sounds good, but when it comes to this kinda music i'm more into not only creating these effects, but also harmony and layering/texturing and raw instrument sound... like -

Thanks for the compliment. And I understand what you are saying; I like the raw guitar sound too. To be honest with you, this could be called noise ambient or any other tag if so wishes. The thing is I wasn't trying to outdo those artists, or layer, or actually create anything at all. I just took this piece and manipulated it a bit and everyone said it sounded like Dorothy in a haunted forest with chirping crickets and spooky loons (birds)! So i left it as is.

Some excellent ambient / dark ambient guitar albums have been produced

over the years by Jeff Pearce.

Though, not exactly a household name around here, Jeff Pearce has been

creating and releasing some of the best ambient guitar albums ever (yes,

that's saying a lot). A lot of his compositions are based on complex loops

surrounded by synth-like sounds all produced by the electric guitar with the

aid of a finely tuned effects bank.

I haven't heard anything from him for maybe 6 or 7 years now (I own a few

of his CDs -- started with "The Hidden Rift" a long time ago), so I don't know

what's happening with album releases these days.

I actually liked your work better than those posted. Pretty cool. There is something I'd like to do over the top of it. Can you post an audio file of it?

One reason I keep picking up my electric over my acoustic is because it can make crazy, atmospheric stuff like this. Also because acoustics are for yokels and hipsters, and I'm 100% rock.

I think we all love rock. But I can't sing worth a lick, so it's much easier for me to just smoke one and create some atmospheric stuff. :) m/
