What's the most satisfying piece of gear you've ever had?

I have an old Coricidan bottle I use.

I have compared it to a Dunlop Blues Bottle and can't tell a difference, tone wise. The Coricidan fits on my finger a touch better, but that's about it. But there is something just... cool about putting that thing on and blasting out some slide licks.

I'd be very sad if it broke or something happened too it. Not only are the old ones a little tricky to find sometimes, this one was given to me by a good friend/ mentor in music so it has a bit of a sentimental thing too.

I had a Champ 600 earlier this year but it hummed and I blew out the transformer within a week. Took it back for a refund. A couple days later I went over to Sam Ash and bought a Frontman 10G for less than half the price and haven't looked back. On its own with its overdrive it does a good impression of a tweed Champ opened up, and gets great clean jazz tones. With my POD it does the Larry Carlton/John Scofield/Robben Ford/Allan Holdsworth thing which I prefer to the Angus Young on up to Death Metal thing. No need to get a Mesa Boogie!

The guitar has been my #1 for 17 years. Haven't even bought a guitar since 1999 (my long time #2). Since a refret a few years ago, it probably is my most satisfying piece of gear.

The amp I've had a good dozen years, and it's incredible (for 50 years old), but still needs a nice tight clean modded Allen Accomplice as a counterpart.

Damn good looking couch :thu:

For me it has to be my RC-20XL, this thing won't bull{censored} you, it won't say you're playing super duper when you sound like {censored}. I got better at soloing, keeping in time, and a whole bunch of other stuff with this thing.

I have one of those, and it has served me very well. :)

However, two other pieces of gear take the top spot:

My Warmoth SRV carve neck on my Strat

And the Kinman pickups, also on my Strat. Some of the sweetest hot Strat pickups I've ever heard.

A Peavey Bravo 112, my old 80's tube amp. Second amp I ever bought, and my first tube amp. Stuck a Vintage 30 and some nice tubes in it a while ago and it just keeps truckin'. Sure, my Vibrolux has sweeter cleans and the AC30 has a killer gainy overdrive, but the Peavey has really never let me down. I bought a Vox Night Train a while ago to use as a bedroom amp, but I ended up not really using it much compared to the Peavey. In fact, I loaned it to a buddy a few months ago and I haven't really missed it. That Peavey's a great little amp for my total investment of around $250.

I actually took it with me to a Guitar Center to test some guitars through it and I had a guy offer to buy it on the spot, "name your price." I wasn't interested. :)

edit: Come to think of it, this is definitely the amp I'll keep if I ever need to sell off most of my gear in some financial crisis. In today's day and age, that kind of thinking hits me pretty often. :(

I've had it since April 07 so the honeymoons well and truly over and yet I'm still just as enamoured with it.

This is the guitar that makes me think the gibson QC and GC haters are full of {censored}. It was plucked of the wall of the GC in manhatten and is just perfect.

Who knows, maybe I'm just lucky
