Members Preacher
GFS just posted a bunch of kits last night - the V and the maple-mahogany LP look kind of sweet... EDIT:Ugh, forgot to link... http://store.guitarfetish.com/gukibuityo.html
Members bsman
The townhouse we're currently in the process of buying (and that's giving me the worst case of insomnia/indigestion I've ever had) has a workbench!!! After we've moved and I'm in a position, I just may have to do one of these (Ive always wanted a V or Explorer-styled guitar...)

Members bsman
Buying a house? wow, mojo sent. Townhouse to be specific. And in the Bay Area (CA) as well. The only actual houses I could afford where those right on the railroad tracks... I've hardly slept in a week... :bor:
Members Preacher
Pretty sure the 3/4" cap isn't 3/4" all the way around. Looks carved from a few of the pics. As I recall Newbuilder's Purple Passion build had a carved top, and while that used different woods I think it's the same basic design... EDIT: Yeah, looking at the pics I would be very surprised if it didn't have a carved top.

Members Undertaker4
Yeah, interesting inlays on some of these... Actually the inlay is a drawback, even dots would've been nice. I don't think I could pull off the biohazard look.
Members bsman
If I had my way, all guitars would come with a no inlay option. Ebony fretboard with no inlays is > everything else...
Members mmkco
I think one is in my very near future. Now I gotta sell some stuff.
Members A_Gitarman
Damn you Jay! Why is it that something cool like this always comes up when I've already got a million other things going on I've got something like 4 guitar projects in various stages of assembly right now, but that double-cut is definitely calling my name. Members fly_with_v
LP Ordered. This is gonna be fun, and probably way too much money by the time I get done. Most likely new pickup, tuners, bridge, and electronics. I will build it first then decide. I wonder if the veneer is enough to work with two stains? I would rteally like to lay down a black stain, sand, and then whatever color I choose over that.

Yeah it'd be nice if they sold them sans andy hardware / electronics so you can make it to your specs. It seems like you end up paying for a lot of stuff that probably won't be used. Members wagdog
I want the V... but the pic shows a bolt-on neck, and the description is for a set-neck... which one is it?
Members Preacher
I'd be inclined to go with the pics in view of Jay's affintiy for copy-paste in his text.
Members ibbyDude
I found these two links very interesting... if you guys have some time for a read http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/luthiers-corner/74264-my-gfs-kit.html(note the headstock fill and reshape and non-symmetrical tenon) http://gretschpages.com/forum/other-guitars/sg-kit-guitar-build/24301/page1/

Members fly_with_v
I will definately post picture of the kit and the build. I would like to do a complete build from stratch, so this will be a good "lesson" build. I have never built a guitar but in the past I was a scale/non-scale r/c aeroplane modeler, so I should have the woodworking and finishing skills. My last R/C project took about 500 hours, so i can be patient and maticulous as needed.
