Members notjonahbutnoah
Ok, I currently own an epiphone les paul studio, white w/ chrome/black bits. It's 08 or 09, I believe. I'd post pics but I only have phone internet. Anyhoo, couple of things: THE NECK: I am pretty comfy with most neck shapes I've encountered, maybe this LP is a little chunky but its no dealbreaker. What I'm finding out is that the goddamn white finish on the neck is a bit of a dealbreaker. I just hate the feel of it, like it's plastic. So, I need to remedy this, I was thinkin i'd tape off the body and headstock and just sand that sheeit off... why is this or is this not a terrible plan? Advice????? THE PICKUPS: stockies were a bit lame, currently its got a JB in the bridge and a bridge model SD P-Rails in the neck (which is wired to a 3way toggle that replaced the neck's tone pot. They're alright I suppose, they do the job, but I want to have nickel covered pickups, so does anyone know where to get covers for either? Can you even cover uncovered buckers like that? OH YEAH, and bone or graphite for the nut? Which and why?ORReccommend me a set of pickups... I require nickel (vanity) and the bridge should possess authority, warmth, and clarity but not be some crazy metalhead thing. And the neck I would really like to be a bucker sized p90, like a phat cat maybe. Any suggestions?

Members super56k
For the neck the first thing I would do is knock out the gloss with 0000 steel wool.
Members jamdogg
i wouldnt throw any $ into a epi LP studio, but if you must....my advice..dont be afraid of knocking that gloss down, just be careful. worst case scenario you ruin a $150 guitar. you can always sell it as a relic. sell the duncans on ebay and get some gibbo classic '57s or '57 plus.nuts are cheap. buy a few and try 'em out. see which you prefer. Members notjonahbutnoah
Heeeeeeeeeeeyyy thanks guys. Yeah she's a comfy girl with mad sustain and looks hot in white.... other than the fixable annoyances I have with it, my only complaint is the headstock. 150? She was 350, I'll have you know!!1!1!1111 That's like calling a 94 taurus an 87 tempo. Anyhoo, I will take care of the gloss, what are the dangers of sanding down to the wood?I'll also read up on them 57s. Thanks. Any other suggestions?
