Members metalheadUK
Took 2 guitars out today that have never been out before, and was seriously doubting theirn ability to cut it in a full on band situation. These were a Steinberger Spirit, and an old MIK Epi Korina V. I ran them through a JCM900. Firstly, the Steiny. Had very low hopes here due to the trio of EMG select pickups, but was shocked how good it sounded...AGGRESSIVE! Guys in the band LOVED it...said it sounded better than anything I had used for ages..I was shocked, especially as the other guitarist is a vintage USA guitar nut...even he LOVED it! Next up, I plugged in the V...the guys preferred the Steiny for the Punk stuff, but I was shocked how good the Epi stock pickups were. I dont know if the pickups are slightly muddy, but they worked really well the very toppy and bottom light JCM900....sounded like Slash to me, and it plays soooo sweetly. So another pointer towards the fact that maybe my Gibsons and Fenders are gonna be being used a bit less. Funny old world, innit? Anyway, I'm off now....The Pistols at the Brixton Astoria is just starting....Sky Arts if anyones interested.
