Members danswon
Would gauge 9s on a 25.5" scale be about the same tension as 10s on a 24.75" scale?
Members Into Nation
I don't know the tension numbers, but that's what I do. It gives about the same feel to me.

Members CoqBelliqueux
A better question would be : "Why don't all strings of the set have similar or progressive tension?"

Members poolshark
A better question would be : "Why don't all strings of the set have similar or progressive tension?" You can buy sets like that, but the gauges are weird and, to my knowledge, the main problem is that certain strings will sound more prominently than others. So they would have to vary the core/outer ratio to have progressive tension and equal volume? I guess I'll keep on dreamin'

Even on the best pups, you often need to adjust the height of the individual poles.

Members MahaloVision
A better question would be : "Why don't all strings of the set have similar or progressive tension?" Or, "why should they have a similar or progressive tension? "I dunno the answer to either. I can tell you there is a great article in the last "American Lutherie", basically transcribing a presentation from an engineer at D'Addario on String Design. Eye opening stuff, especially when it comes to custom string sets.
