Members jimwratt
I'm starting to appreciate the middle pickup more and more. I need to get a decent set of strat pickups (preferably noiseless) that sounds good in the combined positions too. My SCNs don't sound stratish in 2 and 4. 1, 3, and 5 are mediocre though, just a little darker than normal. Any recommendations? Also, what is it about noiseless pickups that makes them so quack resistant?
Members StillRock
I like the middle/bridge setting for when I get sick of the hum of the single coil bridge pickup. I also like that setting for getting Gilmore like tones.

I bought the noisy kind. I got Fralin Vintage Hot + SP43 bridge with blender wiring. Most noiseless Strat pickups are stacked humbuckers. Humbuckers don't quack and don't sound much like single coil pickups to me.
