Members ej
http://store.guitarfetish.com/stovalstpise.html they're the Alinco 5 overwounds. Its for a buddy of mine, he's looking for a bluesy tone on the cheap. He loves the sound of my HWY 1 Strat. The HWY 1 stock pickups are overwound alinco 3 pickups, these GFS ones are similar output but Alinco 5. Will they sound similar? Do they even sound good? Members Woody_in_MN
I bought the GFS Texas something or others for a strat a couple years back. I really liked them. I don't know that particular PUP. In general I've had good luck with GFS - except the dream 180's. I did not espeacially care for those.
Members vintage clubber
I've used the gfs vintage alnico set and they sound good to my ears. You may want to also consider the Rose Mariposa set which should be available again soon according to Ken's site... http://www.rosepickups.com/
Members stormin1155
I think that is the same set I have in one of my strats. I think they were called "premium overwound" alnico 5s then. mine run about 6K, 6.5K and 10K. They are good sounding pickups. I don't know how you can beat them for the price... less than $50 for a full set?
