Members Mr_GoodBomb
Ok, so, here's a little rant. This has been happening more and more, and it's getting a little irritating. Example... I sold several items on Ebay. Specified that I expected payment within 72 hours. This isn't "enforceable" through Ebay, I asked them since. Everything was paid for, except two fairly low-cost items, a $30 album (record/LP) and a pair of headphones for $35. I messaged the members and politely asked if they were having any trouble paying for the items. They both responded, "hey man, I get paid (a week from that day, on some random weekday), so I'll pay then." I'm sorry. You BID, you KNEW your financial situation. PayPal is INSTANT and it's REQUIRED through Ebay now. {censored}ing pay for your own items or don't bid. I'm still waiting for payment on these items 2 weeks later. Ebay says I can relist with the potential of getting bad feedback, or wait a month or more to be safe. Example... This has happened REPEATEDLY lately. I list items for sale here in the SPAM threads and form, on TDPRI on their classifies, etc. I get a message asking about the item. I answer the questions, provide more info, more pictures, whatever. A few days later, I get "hey man, I really need to sink my money into another instrument/amp repair right now," or "hey man, I can't afford that if I'm buying this other thing, too, right now," or "I should probably keep saving for this other instrument right now." I don't GIVE A {censored}. If you know you don't have the money, you knew you didn't have the money a few hours ago when you messaged ME, not me messaging you and asking you if you want this item, but you messaging ME and asking about. If you don't have any money, or need to put your money elsewhere, and you know this, get {censored}ing lost. Asking to wait a week or so, if you're definitely going to purchase something, is one thing. Asking questions or telling me "I'll take it" and then "remembering" that you need to put your money elsewhere or you have none to begin with is another. I'm sorry, but this has happened at least 10 times this week. Where do these people come from? [/rant]

Members jhorne
As long as they pay you within the time allotted within eBay's rules, you've got nothing to bitch about... If they don't pay within the allotted time, file to get your fees back, relist, and move on with your life.
Members vintage clubber
I can't say I have had that experience on ebay. I did have a dude from the Ukraine buy a pickup from me and he promptly paid. However, it took like two months for the package to get to him so I was really concerned as to whether he was going to get it...
Members Mr_GoodBomb
Figure what you want for the item and use Buy It Now. Fewer people watch it, or bid on it, with a BIN. People also wait longer to make a choice with BIN because BIN auctions are generally longer and they assume it'll continue to be there. Listing fees are also more expensive, so even is you get what you want, you get less back.
Members crawfish
I agree with you, but it isn't much better on the purchasing end. I have had 2 items canceled within' the last month by various sellers. One seller stated he was sorry and didn't realize that he didn't have the item in stock. BS, he didn't like the final sale price, about 1/4 of what the item was worth. Second seller didn't even give a reason. I emailed him 3 weeks after I paid questioning whether or not the stuff had shipped. They were small items and shouldn't take that length of time to travel one state over. Didn't get a response until I got the buyer wants to cancel message. Exact same reason as the first seller. All I wanted was one of the 3 items and I know I could have sold the other 2 for about 3 times what I had paid. Of course, my main concern was refunding my money, so I had no recourse but to accept both of the cancellations. Once that is completed, the buyer can't leave feedback, so the sellers are free to sell until they receive their price. Live and learn.

Members Mr_GoodBomb
I see one of the messages says that the buyer MAY be interested. Yes, I never claimed they said they'd absolutely take it (not here, Ebay however SHOULD be a commitment in people's minds). However, they asked questions and suggested interest despite knowing they weren't in a situation to afford or justify it. So, why waste my {censored}ing time? And yes, others HAVE said they'd take it, and when I sent them my PayPal email address, they've sent similar excuses.

Members jhorne
The time they have to pay is 15 days. After 7 you can file a claim, then you have to wait 8 for them to respond (IE pay, or cancel). 15 days is an obnoxious period of time to wait when THEY chose to bid, THEY should have expected to win if they bid, and THEY should be prepared to pay for an item. I'm legally bound to send them the item if they win it, they should be bound to pay for it. And PayPal is instant, and you're forced to use it. There's absolutely no excuse. Of course there's an excuse. If they bid knowing they have 15 days (or whatever it is) to pay, and they know they won't have the money when it ends, but will have it within the 15 days, then they can pay when they have it. If eBay says they have 15 days, then they have 15 days whether you like it or not. As long as they pay and do it within the 15 days, you've got nothing to bitch about. Not that that has ever stopped you in the past...
Members brianeharmonjr
I wonder if blocking bidders with {censored}ty feedback might help remedy this in the future. This might be the case if a buyer could get negative feedback, but the way ebay feedback works now the seller can NOT leave negative feedback. If you sell something and the buyer sends you a message saying they've decided they're not going to pay, your recourse is to either leave positive feedback or leave no feedback, file a claim, and wait a couple weeks to have your fees refunded. I've seen some people leave positive feedback with warnings in them, but ebay usually removes them. Ebay feedback is now only useful for buyers. If you're a seller you've just got to hope for the best. For a while now I've just been setting things at a Buy It Now or sometimes with a best offer option. If you do this, the buyer is required to pay via paypal immediately or the auction doesn't end. This is obviously what ebay wants you to do since they now own Paypal. It's just a huge bummer. Used to be a great place.
Members aenemated
back before paypal, i sold some headphones on ebay. this is back when you had to wait for a money order or check. i got a $75 check cut from a business account. it bounced. i wound up eating it; cuz i figured anyone that ain't got enough in a business account to cover 75 bucks was probably in worse shape than i was. Members Smilin' Bob
How about the guy who sells you a defective or damaged item on eBay, and then when you start talking about a refund, whines about his financial situation (got divorced), and urges you to recover your money by reselling it to some other unsuspecting chump? Just happened to me, but eBay talked to him and he did agree to the refund. We'll see.

Members magentaplacenta
I recently sold a guitar on Craigslist and one guy wondered if I'd take monthly payments (would have taken 10 months pay off) and another said he gets paid in 2 weeks and could I email him back on his payday.
