If it was a good glue job you could take out the screws and use matching wood filler to fill the screw holes. Done right you wouldn't even notice.
Don't think that twit did a good glue job though.

Even if he didn't, you could still do the glueup properly and repair the fingerboard. Besides, that's what inlay is for. I'd give him $50 for it, no problem, and might even think about the $90.
