Members cichra
A friend has given me an early-90's Ibanez guitar (an RT150) for me to do a basic setup. While inspecting it I noticed that the bubinga strip on the guitar's maple neck has started to come loose and separate itself from the neck. This is occuring at the part of the strip closest to the headstock; it protrudes about a millimeter out of the neck. It is minor but noticeable. Does anyone have experience with this on their maple neck + bubinga strip guitars? Can I ignore this or will this get worse over time such that it should be repaired? Can I adjust the truss rod without worrying that I'll worsen the problem? Thank you all for your help as always.
Members Citizen_Insane
I assume you're talking about the sunk stripe? If so, I wouldn't adjust the truss rod. I'd probably loosen the truss rod all the way, try to wick some glue in there and clamp it tight for 24hrs before attempting a setup.
