Ah, what better way to sell your fellow American's downstream than by indebting us greater to our enemies for the sake of a piece of {censored} amp.

Who are your enemies? If Germany (Behringer), or even the UK for that matter(Marshall), have declared war on Florida I must have missed the news today.

To the OP, get a used Marshall JTM45 reissue. Not the cheapest, but it's the best value because you'll keep it for the rest of your life.

Maybe a slightly off the wall suggestion.

How about something like a Vintage Carlsbro?

50 watts, EL 34 head, single channel, hand wired, take pedals superbly.

Mines 1973, and cost me 90 quid!

I've also seen some of the combos going cheap...

All the build quality and sound of a vintage Marshall, without the price tag...

Heres mine.

Traynor YCS-50 is a good all purpose head.

As to Bugera... I bought a V55HD to have as a backup. Got it Thursday. By Saturday the reverb stopped working. On Sunday I plugged my M-13 into the effects loop and it blew a fuse. Hopefully they're not all that bad, but my experience was not good. The amp did sound really good for the three days that it actually worked.

This is the main problem with Bugeras. They have a great replacement policy to go along with how great they sound - but their association with Behringer means a lot of people will not even give them a second (or first) glance when something goes wrong. I have had plenty of amps I gave up on when they developed problems during the honeymoon, so fully understand. It just seems to me they could work a little harder in the QC department to help these really good amps gain a real foothold.

I don't care how good their replacement policy is. Reliability is really, really high on my list of equipment priorities. This thing had two problems in three days. Even if the replacement worked longer than that, I wouldn't have any confidence in it. Anyway, I bought it as a backup since my main amp is in the shop too. I don't have time to wait for a replacement and hope it works.

What sound are you looking for? I see some people recommending the Laney GH50L, superb amp, one of (if not) my #1 favorite lead tone ever. No cleans though. The Peavey classic series is hard to beat for cleans

a 2-channel straight-forward hard rock oriented amp although i'll work with anything providing it sounds good. reverb is quite important to me too. bugera 55 looks very tempting. can't beat the price. don't want to have to take it to a tech in my first week though!

I'd consider a used Fender Bassman 50. No reverb but that can be added on your pedal board. Solid, no nonsense, last forever. And you can bridge the 2 channels with a 12" patch cord to get quite a bit of gain. Price is around $500 for a good one.

Fender Bassman, Bandmaster, Showman, etc... Great vintage tube amps that can be had for around $450 on Craigslist. Last forever, enough volume for days, and take pedals extremely well. Can't believe more people don't go for these, but thats good to keep the prices down for me :)

Amen. Is South Korea our "enemy," too?

For certain political ideologies, which will will remain nameless, every country in the entire world is a bunch of pinky commie-socialist enemies. (yes I understand the irony of being a communist-socialist)
