Members Armchair Bronco
I'm working on Nirvana's "Sappy" right now. It's an awesome verse-chorus-verse-chours-solo... type song that alternates between clean and distorted guitar parts. Lots of fun to play and sing. Members csm
Saw a folk band in St Ives playing the English traditional murder ballad Matty Groves -- as brought into the electric world by Fairport Convention many centuries ago on their Liege And Leaf album -- and since I have a couple of grotesquely simplified faux-Martin Carthy D-modal licks which fit the song, I'm trying to figure out an arrangement which would work for either blues duo (with harpmeister Buffalo Bill once he's out of traction and back in action) or full-on blues band. Maybe fit a funk or reggae groove to it. Thinks: how would Taj Mahal do it?

Members Vim Fuego
Unusually for me, I've just learnt 'Breathe Life' by Killswitch Engage. Fun song, boooooooring chorus to play though. I was happy I could pull off the solo, not that it's particularly amazing or anything.

Members Strat87
I've been kinda obsessed with Radiohead's "Bodysnatchers", which is weird because I don't even like Radiohead. Maybe that'll be the next song I learn...
Members Ferdinandstrat
Actually I am trying to compose a psychedelic piece inspired by Black Sabbath's Planet Caravan. But I am stuck with the chord progression.
Members RiffDaemon
dont ever join a covers band Why not? My band covers over 40 songs, and I work on my own stuff too. I'm usually playing different progressions and voicings while doing songs not in my style. I'm curious to why you scoff cover bands while not offering an explanation :poke: Anywho, just got done learning "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner. JVM hits it to a tee. As for non-coverband territory: the solos for "Halloween" by Helloween.

Members Mister Zero
I'm on a AC/DC kick right now. Lately I've been working on Highway to Hell, Back in Black, Hell's Bells, and The Jack. Also some classic VH: Take Your Whiskey Home, Romeo Delight, I'm the One. Also Little Feat's Spanish Moon, Lucinda by the NOLA Radiators, and Green Tinted Sixties Mind by Mr. Big. And of course I'm always trying to learn the odd Jeff Beck or Greg Howe lick.
Members Loudog99
Usually, I just noodle on some blues- mostly clean SRV- Hendrix type stuff and a few originals. Lately- I have been working on bluesy versions of Amazing Grace and Stand By Me. Lou
