My son: the rocker

cool to be able to share that with your kid; looks like he liked the gift.

my kids are legally inept when it comes to music. Nothing like hearing a completely tone deaf kid try to play the cello at age 10. The other played the flute for awhile, cause her mom did in school. Shrill, very shrill. Both gave it up long ago in favor of soccer. I've been to about 6 elementary school concerts and 1,836,389,738 soccer games :)

I'm sure you'll enjoy him having that guitar as much as he does.

I started playing much younger than him; I was seven when I got rolling. But up until the last year or so, he's never expressed much of an interest in music, and I didn't push it on him. Of course, he's seen/heard me playing since he was born, so I guess it rubbed off a bit via proximity. Recently, he's been coming in and asking to play my guitars, and asking me to teach him some chords and so on. I knew it was time. Since he knows Em, G and A, he's got enough knowledge to make a hit record.

Also, he's getting to an age where he's understanding that rocking is cool, and being cool is cool. :D

You're an awesome Dad.

Thank you. I try. I probably {censored} things up as much as every parent does from time to time, but being a dad takes priority over everything else in my life, so I guess my kid could have a worse old man. :)

In other news, that cheap little Squire Strat sounds and plays great. I "borrowed" it for awhile last night under the guise of "making sure it was set up right", and I'll be damned if the thing doesn't have a great neck, good intonation, and classic Strat tone. It's mind boggling. I'd use it on a record in a heartbeat. My son doesn't know how lucky he is. :D

I got goosebumps :)

I wish I got a present like this when I was 11.

Since you started early yourself, it's real good parenting to let him mature into this by himself. Nice move.

Go have fun with your son. It's cool to be cool :thu:

Wow! Good stuff! :thu:

Congrats on his first electric too.

I remember mine....1966 or 67, Wiesbaden, Germany, Christmas and Santa brought me a brand new Hofner Colorama. I played it through the family "hi-fi," a Muntz. :rawk:
