Hadn't they ditched the bassy capacitor scheme by '66?

Members Angry Tele
Just for the hell of it: - How much did all those parts and labour cost? - How much did the Tele cost in the first place? Just curious. I think it was about $80...Some parts I already had (like the pickups, saddles, electrosocket, switchtip)I paid $40 for an Angelas kit (switch, pots, jack, wire, cap), $12 for bridgeplate, $8 for string button, $12 for knobs...something like that...guitar new was $380labor was free...Took me about 1 hour.If I total everything out that is now into it it would be about $260this guitar is as nice as my us 52RI and CIJ 52. In someways its even better!

Members WoodenDuckMaker
now it may say squier on the headstock, but if you refer to it as a turd i'm going to have to hurt you. people get upset, and call me a fool when i say this. but i like my 50s classic vibe strat more than the MIM standard, Highway 1, and even the american standard I owned. The guitar made me realize that the stratocaster is my kind of guitar and lead to the selling of my gibson les paul standard. The combination of vintage stylings and modern specs (like medium jumbo frets) make it a winner. The guitar is amazingly lightweight. The stock pickups sound classic stratocaster and shouldnt be swapped under most any circimstance. It stays in tune very well. The body is exceptionally resonant. I keep trying to find a strat that is better overall for under a grand, and I havent found one. The only strats that beat it are the high end deals like the eric johnson, and custom shop reissues. I've played the current model MIM and american standards, and they just seem so vanilla in comparison. The CV line has an undeniable mojo to them.
