Odd: When I play slide, I dont like my Firebird, I dont like my 335, but my 6120

my Gretsch 6210 works a charm. The roundness of the tone fits a slide so well. Am I crazy?

 

even Johnny Winter slides on a firebird..but it doesnt work for me..

what kind of slide are you using on your firebird? i notice mine tends to be really harsh with a brass, but with a glass slide it warms up a little. Those mini hums are really finicky when i comes to that

my hollowbody sounds good for some raunchy slide stuff, but I prefer solidbodies because of increased sustain. Also, my hollowbody is an epi es-295 with p-90s. I have more luck with gainier pickups for slide.

i use a dunlop glass slide, nothing special. i love my firebird, but for me. it just doesnt work for slide, and i raised the pups and everything.

I think it's that fat neck, dood. Feels so big and snuggy.

Either that or the heavenly mojo blues I poured into it when I played it at church. Did I ever tell ya 'bout that time?

Johnny Winter's Firebird slide tones are so bright and harsh they are like nails on a chalkboard to me.

I think a Gretsch is a great choice for slide. Why not? George Thorogood plays slide on a Gibby ES-125 Tdc. Not what most people would expect to be used as a slide guitar. But it works.
