Members enuenu
I am considering one of these Fusion Strats which are exclusive to PGS. My head tells me the noise free DiMarzios and LSR nut might represent engineering superiority over your usual CS. However do you think that you lose that Strat X factor in the tone by moving from a 100% Fender build? For an extra $700 they have these. I think I can hear better Strat tones in this demo, but maybe I have lost it.
Members DaleH
The tolal tone has handwound pickups. $700 is alot of money for them though.

Thanks, I was trying to work out where the extra $700 went. It is a lot for handwound pups. Thing is I am going to buy a Strat with the intention of keeping it until I drop. Within reason if a small edge in tone costs me a few hundred $ I will be willing to pay. $700 is starting to push it however.
Members DaleH
Give me a Suhr Classic and I could be happy until I drop. John Suhr was a master builder at Fender for years ,he knows how to build strats.

Members clay sails
Those strats look good, and I hate to splash cold water on anyone going to buy a strat, but you can get a very high quality strat for a lot less money. If you buy an American Standard, for example, and upgrade the pickups to something handwound (i.e. Fralins), you're only out $1300. You can get various reissues that have the same look and appointments for $1500 (probably less on Ebay). You can do Warmoth for $900. If you want it to say "Custom Shop" you pay through the nose for the prestige, but the difference in actual quality is not automatic.

I'm not fussed about anything but tone, quality and playability. Resale is also a factor as if I buy online without playing first (which I have to) and get something that I am not in love with, I can offload it in the small Australian market. The Fender name will ensure I can sell it easily. What pushed me to the CS Strats was my ears. I played a number of Strats in my local store and the 2 CS Strats they had blew all the other Fender Strats into next week as far as tone goes. I was a bit dismayed because I was going to get a American Standard before playing the CS. "How much difference could there be? I'll just save a truckload of $ and get a Standard". However upon playing all the guitars it was immediately apparent to me that the CS were vastly superior.

Members Les Paul Lover
If you are considering non strat strat, you could do worse than getting a Vigier Expert. I've got one a love it!!! Not only is it a fantastic sounding "strat", but it plays a lot better than one thanks to its neck shape ad satin finish. They have a lot of design improvements: No truss rod, but carbon fiber insert so the neck doesn't move - neck is shaped at perfect eck relief point. Teflon nut locking tuner ball bearing mounting virbrato, no wearing knife edge di marzio noiseless virtual vintage 54 pick ups And look at that flame on the neck!!!!! I love it!!!!! I have heard great things about Vigier and Suhr in the past. I think they cost a bomb though.
Members Les Paul Lover
Probably about as much as the custom shop you were looking at for the Vigier. I think new is about
Members enuenu
Thanks, had a look at some Suhrs too and not as much as I thought. I thought Vigiers were really pricey.
Members Ralph onion
Go for the Strat that you want. You said you want to keep it for a lifetime and a Fender with hang with you!
Members LarriveeFan
boy, I love the tones outta both of those guitars !! of course that amp and his playing has alot to do with it, but both are sweet guitars !!

Some are very pricey indeed - just realised that if you're in OZ, not sure if you can socre them overthere. The Vigier Expert think is one of their cheapest models. Still really high quality - it's basically a reengineered strat. Got roller saddles too, even the strap button are screw in a brass raw plug so you never strip it out! I loved the choosing process before to pick my dream strat - hope you have fun along the way!!!!!
Members Orange Jackson
I've got a area 58 in the neck of a strat. I've come really like it. Is the price on that fusion $1900? Looks like it anyway. There are a ton of options out there for strats with a 9.5 radius necks for under $1900. The LSR is cool, but other then that, I think you can get more for your money elsewhere. Members fulcrumpoint
My question is what drive pedal/wah/amp is he using??? I hate demo videos that do not let you know the tone chain. That guitar has some serious bite...The price is steep but if its a lifetime guitar go big or go home.

Members enuenu
That 54C sounds sweet. The G-Studio was a bit too nice for me. (I realize both would have a multitude of other tones and that the amp is key).
