Members Wide
It works perfectly on every other forum I go on. I think it started when I switched to Windows 7, I am unable to read the most recent posts in a thread. I often resort to clicking on a persons name and using "find more posts by _", but now that just directs me to a news/review site. Isn't a Windows 7 problem ? Members Wide
By "unable to read" you mean you can't see 'em? What do you see? For instance, a thead will show 15 replies in a thread, I am unable to scroll down to see any replies after post #11. I have zero problems on other forums, so it doesn't sound like Windows 7 is the problem. It's a mystery (and a frustrating one)
Members TimOBrien
OS is irrelevant. What BROWSER are you using? (If you're using IE, we'll all smack your hand right now. Go download Firefox or Chrome before someone hacks into your system....)

CMS Author MikeRivers Posted July 14, 2010 CMS Author Share Posted July 14, 2010 Check the area down below the thread listing where it says "Display Options" and see what the "From The" setting is. It may have changed to something like "Last 2 days" which will only list the posts within the last two days even if there are hundred of replies from the first day it was posted. There's someplace where you can set that as a default, probably in the User Control Panel (User CP up at the top of the page) Or maybe you just need to go to the next page? There's also a setting in the Control Panel for how many messages constitutes a single page. If that's set to 10 (the minimum), you'll need to go to the next page to see #11 in the thread. If it's set to 100, you'll have to scroll further to get to the end of the "page" but you'll see more message headers.
Members blue2blue
Internet Explorer As bad as IE8 is (and it is), it seems unlikely to be the culprit in this case. (I used to defend IE -- in spite of its nightmarish mishandling, version after changing version, of standards MS had signed off on -- IE6 might have been bad with standards, but at least it was relatively fast (compared to other browsers, all with caching turned off). But IE7 was sluggish. And now IE8, which, ironically, has pretty good standards-compliance, is not just slow-loading and slow-rendering, but, on my rig, it leaks memory. I have a very modest machine and I cannot afford to loose resources to bad software. So, while I have to have IE8 for testing websites for my dayjob (just as I have to have Safari), I try never to load or use it unless I absolutely have to. Overall, I like Firefox best. Chrome is very fast loading and rendering -- but it is a huge, huge memory hog. And -- despite the claim that its approach to running every window and tab in protected memory makes it more stable, you can still crash all instances of Chrome from one bad instance. No matter what fantasy the G-boyz weave. Still, I use Chrome for most of my online video viewing -- but I use Firefox for most browsing as it has a much more complete feature and convenience set -- and because Chrome breaks many webform's rich-text editing or other features. I changed a setting from Forum Default to "50 posts per page", and it is now working properly Thanks for that advice (and everyone's advice). Sounds like Firefox might be good for me. Members blue2blue
Lots of customization features and potential add-ins in FF that can make it a powerful, convenient, relatively safe browsing platform. But, of course, as with anything else, the more you add in, the more complexity, the more issues you may see... still, I like FF pretty well. It's my all around fave. I can't say I'm really entirely comfortable with any of them.

If people didn't keep trying to make fancier and fancier web pages and try to hack computers through the web browser, they'd all work just fine. They get broken when the developers try to accommodate the more complex web sites and "protect" against invasions. It's the INTERNET, STUPID! Members Anderton
The problem with being kicked back to the home page after selecting "Find more posts" was due a server being down. It's back now.
