Members StrangeAngel
You probably get asked this all the time but please help! I need a decent beginners set-up to play 60s Nuggets style Garage, Punk, Blues. Stuff like The Kinks, Yardbirds, The Sonics, etc. I'm currently practicing on a friend's Dean Razorback without an amp(!). The guitar seems to play OK but I'm really not into how it looks. Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted June 18, 2010 Moderators Share Posted June 18, 2010 Just 500 for the guitar or have you that budget for both guitar and amp? And what do you like the look of? Semis, Teles, Strats LP type? If you're just a bedroom player and a lot of us here are in one way or another you still wanna love what you have so you pick it up as often as possible theres loads of good budget stuff out there, and in the UK, I'd mostly recommend Vintage
Members metalheadUK
Something from the "Vintage guitar range (see sig), and a 2nd hand Marshall AVT 100/150 underrated and hence cheap...good sounding and solid.

Members metalheadUK
{censored}s sake Marc, not in his bedroom, he'll be sellin Big Issue in the weekMy reasoning being that, having lived with an AVT 100 as a home amp, it does work really well in low volume situations, but come the 1st gig/party whatever, the amp will cope...it's not loud for a 100 watt combo, but it IS loud enough to keep up with a drummer, and it saves the panic as you realise that that 10 watt thing, however great it sounds, is not gonna cut it live. Members d_dave_c
Yamaha pacifica for the guitar. I'm not sure what the market looks like over there for used gear, but in the US I'd probably say to look for a used Peavey tube amp. So I'll say that for you, too.
