Try listening without watching the video.

Yeah. It is amazing how the visual influences the perception of sound.

This sounds like complete utter ASS without watching the video. Actually, it sounds like ass even while watching the video, its just that the video distracts you from what your ears would be recognising, had they not been bamboozled and betrayed by the eyes.

I might be one of the few here that doesnt think this is impressive at all. It is not genius to take all sorts of objects, hack them up, rearrange them, and then beat on them to make some sort of sound. Chimpanzees will beat on a tree trunk with a stick. It doesnt sound any worse than this.

This would be WAY more impressive if it actually sounded good.

After all that work rearranging this......stuf...... seems the extra effort to tune stuff up at least would have been worth the extra trouble.

Im sorry, but to me, this would only be cool if it actually sounded good.

Otherwise all you have is the human equivalent of a chimp beating on a tree trunk with a stick.

'cept I do think what he's doing sounds good.

The dynamics are fantastic, and building up with that sort of oom-pahey bass line works really well.

It sounds like some kind of insane traditional folk music or something to me, buit I thought parts of it musically were pretty exciting.

Agree. Get Tom Waits to stick a vocal on it and it would fit 'Rain Dogs' perfectly.
Or maybe something by the Bad Seeds.

That's exactly what I was thinking as I was listening to it. Kudos to that guy for doing something different. :)

I typically don't disagree with what you say, but this is one time I do. I'll give you that it's probably not as good sounding as a full band using contemporary instruments, but it has a very good rhythm, and is very musical.

The day that a chimpanzee can assemble guitar strings, pickups, piano keys, and a violin bow, and make some music with timng and rhythm, I'll agree with your assessment.
