Members NHLfan2010
So I just got a Jay Turser strat (i know my other tread is "am i strat or tele player") and I love it...other than two little things. One, the neck pickup doesn't work (currently getting a new switch from musiclandcentral), and I get a fair amount of fret buzz around my B string around the 2nd fret. How can I fix it? Help...? If it only buzzes there, i think there's probably an uneven fret there. That can only be fixed by raising the action (adjust only the B-string saddle) or but a level-and-crown... Members Bro Blue
It may be a high fret, it could be the nut is not cut correctly. Try raising the saddle a little and see if that helps.
Members mrbrown49
2nd and third frets generally see the most wear too. If that guitar has fret wear the second fret is probably worn low.
Members Orange Jackson
If you are finding a little buzz just at the first few frets, then that is generally a sign that the truss rod is a touch too tight. Meaning that the neck is just beginning to enter into back bow. This makes the nut drop down and causes some buzzing on the first few frets.Backing it off about a 1/8th to 1/4th of a turn should do it.
Members WRGKMC
B string - 2ns fret = fret wear Take a close look at the frets under the strings. You likely have groves in the frets. I wouldnt mess with the action or truss. Just take it to your local shop and have them level and crown the frets. Its not a hard job, and if you want the thing to play in tune without buzz it needs to be done. In the future you may want to learn how to do it yourself. You need the proper radius block, fine sandpaper and a crowning file. http://www.stewmac.com/shopby/ppp/5640 http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Fretting_supplies/Shaping_and_crowning.html This comes in handy too to find low frets like you have. The video gives instructions. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Fretting_supplies/Measuring/Fret_Rocker.html

Would I be able to learn well enough from watching videos and stuff or do I run too large of a risk of destroying my neck? Would I just be safer using the $50 I would spend on a recrowning tool on a Guitar Fetish neck?
