Hey

If anyone has bought a guitar from the usa and had it shipped to canada can you tell me how it went?

I understand there will probably be customs to deal with on top of the price/shipping.

I am in Australia and I have family in canada at the moment that would be able to bring back a guitar for me (which saved me roughly 300 dollars in shipping since they can carry it) however I'm not sure on the procedure with buying and selling guitars coming from the usa to canada.

Ive bought a few guitars from usa and had them shipped to australia - but if someone is there that can save me 300 dollars in shipping i want to take advantage of it.

Thanks - so for the taxes, how is that dealt with? Can my Dad pay it? Do they contact me, or would they contact whoever it is being sent to?

You pay it at the post office when you pick it up. Many of my orders under

$100 come to my door no tax. Other times I get a parcel pickup notice.

also you can ask the seller to send it as a gift to save duty

Sorry, but that doesn't work anymore. They may be government workers but they're not completely stupid.

USPS and, as stated, you'll pay currency exchange plus GST+PST+$5 handling fee+USPS costs.

But most online resellers will only ship UPS or FedEx - not USPS.
