Is there something in the water? The PreSonus forums (without any announcement, as far as I could tell) have just switched. I found the "new" or "reply" button once, after re-registering, but I can't find it again. Does anyone know where it is?

Why can't people learn that the first word in "User Interface" is "User"?

Everyone's (trying to) go Web 2.0...

... obviously, it's a target that can be hard for a big organization to hit.

I've seen quite a number of such complaints about mainstream commercial sites lately. For instance, Hulu did an update of their system (a lot of us didn't think there was anything much wrong with it but presumably there were needs the company thought they had) and, while it was, overall, relatively smooth, there was a week or so of churn and, I have to say, they took away some good functionality and added cute stuff of only arguable usability (timeline preview images, for instance).

Google has been redoing a number of their sites and services -- many of which sorely needed updating and extension -- unfortunately, a lot of their changes have seemed for the worse. (On the positive side, they finally admitted that forcing users to use their supposedly 'superior' message threading system was their 'biggest mistake' in setting up Gmail. That won't change my practice, as I've used POP access since I got my first account there because of the message threading, which I find all but unusable.)

Maybe this is just my observation but it seems that we as a society (or maybe its just mass media) have to always to something to improve or make better something that already works well. This constant need for more apps, more memory, more power, more speed, more connectivity, more options, etc... is just pure insanity.

HC1 worked. No one had a problem with it. Maybe the advertisers had a problem with it because they felt the need to increase revenue and revenues weren`t? Whatever the case, it seems that all media outlets & all manufacturers feel this constant need to grow, to expand, to increase... but the truth is everything peaks and falls. Its business, its life...

I`m glad the powers that be had the sense to get this forum back to where it was working. Yes, I saw the potential of HC2 but it just wasn`t there yet. Everything could always use improvement but it seems we have reached a point in pretty much everything where updates come every 6-12 months and things are constantly evolving but I have to wander... is it really better?
