Members mightysasquatch
James Williamson on "Raw Power" by Iggy & The Stooges. After years of hearing this album hyped up (I'm a big Bowie fan), I finally picked up the Deluxe Legacy 2 cd edition this week for $15 on sale. Wow. It's rough, it's raw, it's the first album I've listened to in a long time that had me dancing and pogoing around my living room like a kid again. What a great rawkin' sound, just a wall of sound. The first disc is the original Bowie mix of the album. The second disc has a live show from the tour plus one rehearsal & one studio track. Unfortunately, the live stuff has horrible sound quality & technical problems, and the studio outtake is pointless jabbering over a riff. Still though, that first disc, whoa.......... Members brandass
Is it the re-mastered version, or the original release? The original sounds way too polite for my ears, want to hear the new version that Iggy mastered himself (as I understand it). In any case, have you checked out "Fun House" yet? That album {censored}ing smokes!!!
Members mightysasquatch
The Iggy version apparently is disliked by everyone but Iggy. It has every grunt, scream, word, & cough he uttered mixed in, and mixed some stuff way higher than others. I think the Bowie version is pretty sweet.Fun House & their first l.p. are on their way to my house as we speak.

Members lefchr
Wasn't the original mix where Iggy just turned all the faders on the mixer all the way up, so it was all just a distorted mess. The first album and fun house are better I think.
Members Muddslide
I agree. It sounds raunchy and glorious. But Ron Asheton's tones on the first two albums is also great. Check out the wah explosion at the end of "Little Doll" from the 1st LP.
