Members Oaksong
So, for a long time I have been thinking of building a guitar from parts. Specifically, some sort of strat. Only issue with strats is the evil neck heel. I hate it. I even got an LP made custom with no heel because even that annoyed me a lot (and it wasn't nearly as abrupt as the sharp block that is a strat). I had a Jackson with a contoured heel and that was just fine. does anybody make decent strat bodies with a contoured heel? Preferably without charging a ton? Members Selsaral
I'm with ya, I love strats, and I love the contoured heel. Off the top of my head: Of course Fender American Deluxe guitars have had them for a while. Carvin has a very similar heel on their bolt on guitars now. Benford can do the all-access-neck-joint (like you see on yamaha's etc). Warmoth has their own contoured heel, unlike the Fender or all-access-neck joint. No experience with these. Members Oaksong
Hrmm... Not hearing a lot of responses. My guess is that a lot of fender types are traditionalists.
Members csm
My Custom Shop Jeff Beck sig Strat has a contoured heel. Like it lots. Don't know why it isn't standard across all of the Strat range apart from the vintage reissues.
Members GuitArtMan
Warmoth and USACG both do it. What's your price range? Used Andersons, Suhrs, and Groshs can be found fairly cheap and all have it.

I refuse to pay anderson, etc their insane $$ for a strat.

Members Oaksong
Sigh, looks like I may just buy a body and sand the holy hell out of the neck heel, then find some shorter bolts.
Members Oaksong
hrmm, the more I think about it, the more I like that idea. I can also glue the neck and completely destroy the heel allowing for smooth access..
