Members carryonplease
I found a 1994 "epiphone les paul special double cut" on craigslist. its super upgraded, new pots, new tuners, new tail piece, new knobs, new switch. plus i really want something with p90s the guy may be interested in a trade for my tradition LP I totally would go for im just hesitant about a few things, I play in drop C (lame i know) and my tradition doesn't quite handle it amazingly or anything. Do you guys think the epi will handle the low tuning? I assume its the MIK one. from what i've read these are pretty nice guitars? heres some pics
Members notjonahbutnoah
You should be able to set it up to handle drop tuning. I would do the deal providing either a) you get a pic of the guts and theyre clean or b) you can solder and clean them up if need be. I bet p90s would sound pretty cool drop tuned. Seems like they would cut some mud but still have the balls. Plus, i mean, tv yellow? Nice. You'll be like John 5 playin all modern high gain w/ a cool lookin vintagey thing. Members carryonplease
yea i never thought about p90s until recently and im pretty sold on them, just haven't heard them through my set up yet. love the TV yellow too. and i had my tradition set up for drop C and it still buzzed. then again it was not the best set up i've ever had... haha
Members notjonahbutnoah
Everyone should have at least 1 guitar with at least 1 p90 in. You just need it. snowaie i believe posted his lp junior doin high gain earlier today, and it was titties sounding!
Members carryonplease
just listened to that! sounds mint, i love the growl and it almost sounds more full bodied than a humbucker. less compressed but still thick and juicy.
Members vintage clubber
that's a sweet guitar. use standard tuning though...
Members metalheadUK
well , if it sounds anything like the one I heard someone playing the other night (and it's even the same colour) it's gonna sound great!
Members megawzrd
Almost looks like this one...1994 http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=579552 Personally I am a little wary of guitars that change hands quick if it is. But anyways...looks like a sweet Epiphone. I'd go check it out myself if that was local to me. Korean Epis are usually pretty solid. With the right gauge strings I am sure it could handle drop C. But personally I prefer humbuckers for drop tunings, single coils are a little too weak...never really tried p90s in drop tunings though.
Members kirs
I don't think P90s and br00tz will mix well.

I played hardcore punk with P90s, you should have no problem with that other than you'll need to kill switch when you're not playing.
Members Flatspotter
God damn it, another P90 guitar thread. Now I'm really jonesing for something with P90s. I hate you guys.

Members kirs
so basically i roll the neck volume all the way down and flip pickup switch to the middle! Yup. will the feedback really be that bad? i want to be able to have controllable feedback, will that not be possible? Not feedback, 60Hz hum. With any substantial amount of gain they tend to hum, bad. Solution? Keep playing!
