Members Bookumdano2
I was born just a few years after the war so here's how I look at it- This one guy ... one guy ... almost ... and I mean almost .. took over the entire world. He was that close. Can you imagine one guy doing that? Naw. Only on tv maybe. But it happened. Or almost happened. And just before I was born. A little more time and he woulda had the nuclear capacity. First. He had rockets first. He had germ warfare. He had every advantage. And he was crazy. And if the guy had succeeded, no telling how screwed up my life woulda been right now. Or yours too. And that's not even considering the atrocities he was responsible for while roaming the planet. I don't see anything funny about Hitler. And his time period in history was way too close to my time period. Good riddance.

Members Anderton
its funny on the simpsons but too controversial for HC.the thread didnt just get locked or moved, it disappeared. 1. We already have a political forum if people want to talk about Hitler.2. Jokes about drummers are fine for a forum called "Sound, Studio, and Stage." Jokes about Hitler don't really cut it.3. There's the old saying about the internet that goes something along the lines of "When Hitler is mentioned in a thread, then the discussion is pretty much over." So when a thread STARTS with it, well, you get my point. I lived in Europe when the results of WWII were still very much apparent, and knew people with tattoos on their wrists from the camps. So, even though it was a long time ago, I really don't find much humor in the whole situation...well, with the possible exception of this.
Members Coaster
i never said it was funny; if you read the thread i in fact said it was not funny. i was just surprised to see it disappeared when so much other crappola runs rampant. we've had spam threads up longer than that one. Gus Lozada
2. Jokes about drummers are fine for a forum called "Sound, Studio, and Stage." There are no jokes about drummers. All of them are real anecdotes.
Members blue2blue
There are no jokes about drummers. All of them are real anecdotes. Well, my mixed-heritage drummer, Ngo Rubato, is well-liked in my band. People say he's a real machine. _______________________________ For what it's worth, I think I think you can use guys like Hitler and Stalin in jokes -- but you are potentially dancing on blood-soaked ground when you get into the real humanity-crushing crimes for which they are reviled. So using Hitler or Stalin (Stalin, after all, reponsible for deaths of his own people on the same general scale as the deaths caused by Hitler) simply as an exemplar of cruelty or malevolence in casual speech may get by -- but once you start talking about the annihilation of tens of millions of people, that joke gets a little less funny. Members Lukenskywalker
And this is most definitely not funny either: Chaim Witz (Gene Simmons) and Stanley Eisen (Paul Stanley) Anglicized their given names and altered the last two letters of the bands name (SS) to become the SS Runes of Hitlers Bodyguard and 'Gene Simmons' deceptively tried to deny his heritage on a old TV interview years back. I think THAT is funny...not funny Ha-Ha, but funny sad.... Like my Uncle, when he drank too much at Weddings and Funerals

Members roomjello
This one guy ... one guy ... almost ... and I mean almost .. took over the entire world. He was that close. Can you imagine one guy doing that? This is the one reason Hitler is worth talking about. Because you and many others still think it was all one guy. You are right, that would only happen on television. It was organized world crime and your country was apart of it.Same as 9/11.It's scary and horrible but the more we erase threads and deny what the truth is the more we set ourselves up to be treated like herds of sheep. It's your world.
Members Coaster
i didnt mean for this thread to go into a scary territory as i realize that many of craigs' forumites need kid gloves, so lets just agree that many folks have followed the rabbit and know where it leads and the rest of the folks have pleasantly left their blindfolds on. and really, no one who still has blindfolds on at this stage in the takeover can be reached, so lets leave them in their version of reality. there are places to discuss the reality but HC does not have the capacity to do this. certainly not in this forum, where the grandest of arguments are whether apple or microsoft is more evil, but never the discussion of google's realtime surveillance plans and global net censorship. total information dominance. google has far more power than microapple combined, but lets ignore them. to those that have followed the rabbit, yes its bad. keep following the rabbit. to those that have no idea what i am talking about; have a nice life. I know exactly what you're talking about, and that's why we have a political forum to discuss these kinds of things.
