Members PinkLeppardRush
I just got the new 2010 American Standard Strat back from the luthier, and the Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups are in, as well as the Sperzel locking tuners. I took several pics, but I can't quite capture how very red the rosewood board is. I think it's a combination of bad lighting and a really bad camera. I've been called many things over the years, but "photographer" has never ever been one them. Anyway, the board is super red in the correct light, and even the luthier made a comment about it as soon as I opened the case. It doesn't come across as well as I'd hoped, but oh well... The important thing is that it sounds and plays like heaven. In fact, gotta go...
Members GAS Man
even though those pics aren't all that great I can get a better idea of what candy cola looks like from them. Usually the other web photos I see make it look pretty much like CAR. Nice rig

Members DaleH
HNGD very nice. I like rosewood wth red grain in it. Next string change you could wipe it down with some Lizard Spit fretboard conditioner. Darken it up and really make the grain pop.

Members brianeharmonjr
Congrats! One of my favorites. As soon as my finances turn around I'll be picking up an American Standard Strat with a maple board and either Candy Cola or Charcoal Frost. It's almost an ebony color, and obviously dyed to be so.
Members PinkLeppardRush
Looks wonderful! How do you like the pups?? I love mine! The Fender VNs are amazing. They have more punch and depth than the stocks, and are whisper quiet. I cannot even fathom how people can call these pickups "soul less," which is a common adjective I've read in user reviews. I believe the people who really hate them just don't have them set up correctly. They need to be set pretty low, and the bass side needs to be set slightly lower than the treble side. The Vintage Noisless use Alnico V magnets, which is the traditional Fender choice (the VNs are stock in the Clapton Strats). The Hot Noiseless were developed specifically for Beck. I love this new Strat so much I want to get another next year, and I'll probably put Hot Noiseless in that for a little variety.

I would bet many of those hater reviews are from people that have never owned a set. Just noodled around with them in GC.I like the modern tone of the SCN Cobolts also. IMO there very versitile. Used to have a set, but I found them muddy and not terribly articulate... sort of grungy like they would be featured in a Seattle guitarist's axe, circa 1993. I don't know... just me. Members Muddslide
When I think of it, I don't think there's a single metallic color Fender has ever used that I don't think is hot. I love them all. But that Candy Cola...I saw a live one today and it really is a gorgeous color.
