Members clay sails
The Mustang. It would be like if they named an amp "telecaster" or "stratocaster." Or like the time Ernie Ball named its new line of Asian instruments "Sterling" even though that was already the name of a jazz bass in its lineup... Members Yogi_Sizzle
Fender didn't name the new Mustang amps after the guitar they named it after their original "Mustang Amps" of the 70s

Members billybilly
Interesting to know that they named it after a previous amp, however, dumb name. Then again, maybe not, easy to remember and it's got us talking.

Members wartoxin
The planes, cars, bikes, guitars, and amps that bear the name all descended from the horse of that name, coming from the root word which meant stray livestock animal. Members Marc G
I would assume that maybe they are going after the "student" vibe since the Mustang guitar was marketed as a student guitar.... I could be wrong....
Members StevenJM
i hate when fender re-uses names. especially the starcaster... the original starcasters in the 70s were sweet! the fender bullet was sweet too, now if you do searches for either of those, you get bottom of the line walmart stuff. Members panther_king
Or like the time Ernie Ball named its new line of Asian instruments "Sterling" even though that was already the name of a jazz bass in its lineup... Also, the import EBMM line was named (without his knowledge) by the people forming the new line 'Sterling' after the main man over at EBMM, Sterling Ball, in tribute to him.The 'Sterling' model bass was again named after Sterling Ball, but this time in reference to the fact that he help design the StingRay bass in the late 70's; the Sterling is that bass now, and the StingRay has changed over the years.
