Members Anderton Posted January 1, 2011 Members Posted January 1, 2011 Here are a few, how about you?
Members ggm1960 Posted January 1, 2011 Members Posted January 1, 2011 I'm hoping to develop some animation and video production skills. I also want to continue improving my keyboard ability which was also last years main resolution.
Members Paolo Di Nicolantonio Posted January 2, 2011 Members Posted January 2, 2011 My main resolution for 2011 is: More music, less gear. (and as I say this, just bought and downloading the latest Sonar X1 upgrade )
Members js1 Posted January 2, 2011 Members Posted January 2, 2011 I've made the same resolutions for the past 4 years: 1. Do something that I've always wanted to do.2. Do something that scares me. js
Members UstadKhanAli Posted January 2, 2011 Members Posted January 2, 2011 1. Do something that I've always wanted to do.2. Do something that scares me.js Sometimes those are the same thing. I don't tend to make new year's resolutions. Not sure why. Sometimes traditions like these are good. If one makes it, though, one should really commit to it or it's meaningless.
Members elsongs Posted January 2, 2011 Members Posted January 2, 2011 1. Finish that damn album I've been working on for six, no wait...seven years now. I've given myself a Sept 1, 2011 release date ultimatum; if no album is released by that date, then I will end my current band. I'm so f'ing serious. 2. Take formal drum lessons. As someone who's self-taught, I've had a few paid gigs last year where I had to play drums because no drummer was available and I got the gig because knew the songs and structure. I do a decent job at it but wanna actually be good at it. I have an excellent sense of groove but need to work on my rudiments/coordination/etc. I think this will benefit other aspects of my musicianship as well. Fortunately, I met someone last night who's not just a drummer/percussionist, but a teacher! 3. Finish that damn album I've been working on since 2004. 4. Be more aggressive/business-minded when doing paid gigs. I'm prone to selling myself shot as to my price when I'm asked to do some paid gigs, probably for fear of not getting the gig. I should aim a bit higher. 5. Finish that damn album. 6. Do a better job at marketing myself. 7. Finish that damn album. 8. Make a music video or two this year. I keep putting it off. 9. Stop putting off stuff. 10. Finish that damn album.
Moderators Lee Knight Posted January 2, 2011 Moderators Posted January 2, 2011 To approach my projects with a sense of fun. Even those projects from work that can be considered less than fun. It's amazing, if I smile and try to find the fun, the game in any task, project, job... I do it better. And all it takes from me is a mental reminder on the onset and during it's progress. So my resolution is to remind myself to have fun in everything. 'Cause it beats the alternative.
Members philbo Posted January 2, 2011 Members Posted January 2, 2011 In my usual oxymoronic mode, I've resolved not to make resolutions.
Members Mats Nermark Posted January 2, 2011 Members Posted January 2, 2011 Hi, After returning from NAMM to Sweden I will not eat candy, cookies, cake or ice cream and I will go to the gym at least twice a week. I love candy, cookies, cake or ice cream and I hate the gym but I really do need to loose some waistline real estate. This will NOT be easy. Cheers, Mats N
