EG posted something that said the Firebird was the doorprize for the first 20 people.. So far though, that thing is all we've seen. I think Gibson might be going for the world's largest collective facepalm if that is indeed all this big fiasco was about.. It's an ugly edition of an ugly guitar.. The only way to make that guitar less desirable would be to use paint made from ground up kittens..

Gibson, not just your average run of the mill retards :thu:

2. Henry has said several times over the last few weeks that Gibson guitars will always be produced in the USA.

Pity... if they shifted to Japan and halved the price, I'd be interested maybe. :p

Carbon fibre is a good one... a carbon fibre neck would be an interesting way of addressing some of the inherent weakness in the design. Stronger than wood, as I understand.

Exactly....My rig is outdated. But with Variax, synth, etc, they're gonna have to do something really off the wall to qualify as revolutionary.

They are really pushing this. I got another email last night about it.

I'm wondering if maybe it's a new pickup system not based on magnetics.
:idk:

I'd like to see an LP with only the Robot tech on it. Seemed to be to be such as waste, the idea of buying a guitar capable of all that to then think about using old style pups.... that said, my feeling was they only kept the standard electronics in that design to placate the sort of luddites who wined about how the Variax didn't look like a "proper" guitar. I remember when that one debuted, there were people on here saying 'they should at least have fitted it with dummy magnetic pups so it looked normal'

I think Gibson might consider creating a new brand to market these endeavors. They're good ideas, but I think they fail because they are too far out of scope for the Gibson name.

Gibson will form a separate guitar division with a new line-up consisting of the single and double cutaway Ru Paul Standard Zoot Suit models.
