Members lank81
Anyone have one of these? Xaviere XV-835 or XV-825 These look like really sweet std teles and the 825 has the mini-hum. I know all the rave is around the Squier CVs right now but I'm not a super huge fan and these are even less. They look just as good if not better but how do they feel/play? Members stormin1155
I have one... not sure which model. It has an ash body and is the heaviest guitar I own... The neck feels nice and overall the quality is quite nice.
Members lank81
Definitely a looker. Quality looks to be pretty good as well. It just sucks when you can't play something before buying it but I've always heard great thinks about the Xaviere and Rondo/Agile lines.

I have a Douglass Tele and a SX Resonator and both are fantastic. They both play very well and the quality is far beyond the ~$160 I paid for each of them. Douglas and SX guitars are not Agile guitars, they are brands that just happen to be sold by Kurt at Rondo along with his Agile line. Max
Members Yarbicus
Between Rondo brands and Xaviere I would be inclined to pick Xaviere because I already know that i like GFS pickups. Man, I have been GASin' for a blackout tele:
Members Moustache_Bash
On the subject of low-priced guitars has anyone tried the agile st-1000? Looks like a pretty sweet strat rip off AND it comes left-handed! Also, does anyone know if a fender neck would fit on it?
Members slodge
I assume the record label is a mod, but is the p90 a mod or stock? I have one... not sure which model. SX/Douglas are just economical models under a different brand name.
Members alfsboy
In Europe the similar models to Douglas are sold as Richwood .I had a great twin P90 Thinline by Richwood and its really a good guitar complete with a proper F headstock .I had to sell it to to pay for some other gear but much regrets,I would say Douglas/Richwood are a higher quality to SX .I have several SX's and although I like them a lot they are a more variable quality .Cant loose on any of these makes though .For the money they are a cinch . Members Will Chen
I reviewed the XV-820 at my site. Generally a quality build on par with the CV stuff. Though I must admit to liking the pickups and general feel of the CV better. The 820's neck felt a bit too slim. Also, the Tone pot on the XV-820 suffered from almost no affect until the last quarter turn. See this on a bunch of imports (but not on SX, they seem to get it right). I've got a run down on a bunch of affordable teles here.
Members Angry Tele
Squier CV/C is a no brainer. The quality is as good as US AVRI and in some ways better (better fretwork, better fit and finish, fully sheilded, better electronics). The best part is that they are US spec so you can swap any part easily which you cant do with most import and/or knock offs, including CIJ and MIM. However, they are also more than twice the price of the Xaviere, so it's not exactly fair to compare them as if they were in the same ballpark. :pok:

Members bsman
Really that good???? I've seen CVs in the stores, but haven't really spent any time checking them out (I guess I'm getting to be a headstock snob in my old age!) Oh --and where are you seeing 'em for $300? I see them online (MF, etc.) at $350...

The CV pickups I would not change, the CVC PUPs are good but I dont like the specs. I never even thought about Squier until I played one and bought it on impulse. I wasnt blown away in the store but I couldnt find anything wrong with it, and after getting it home and setting it up with my strings etc it really came alive. Now Im 100% converted. I even think the gold Squier logo looks better. And they have a 5 hole guard which is actually period correct to 1958-59 when the custom first came out, compared to the 8 hole 62RI guards. I just like blackguard 5 hole guards better. Lastly, they are routed for humbucker in the neck.

Members lank81
I owned the Classic Vibe 50s Tele and personally it didn't feel anywhere near as good as the FSR MIM Ash Tele. I really dug the neck on that thing and the pickups sound good and sweet. I think the CV Teles are nice but not that nice. In the end no matter what low end tele I get I'll replace the electronics and pups. So question is, for the money, what has a really sweet neck of MIM Fender quality (CV doesn't have that IMO), and a sweet finish.
Members dogfish
I was ready to pull the trigger on a butterscotch XV-820 or XV-825 yesterday then i saw some closeup pictures. I understand that "butterscotch" and "butterscotch blonde" are not official Pantone colors, that they're in the eye of the beholder. But I was hoping for something like and the gfs site shows but a close-up of an XV-825 "Keef" in the wild (with review) looked like which isn't what I want.
