Members diceman1000
I'd say that the Zac Brown Band is more of a boon to mainstream country music, and more likely to draw an audience from other genres (hell, if they're enough of a draw to play Bonnaroo, you know they're pulling a diverse audience). They put on one hell of a good live show too. see, i don't like the Zac Brown Band at all, with the exception of Chicken Fried... not to mention the fact that their latest is a blatant rip off of the plain white t's

Members diceman1000
As another person said....sounds like every other country song on the radio to me. At least the song itself wasn't as cliche as the video. there again... that cliche is my everyday life folks:thu:
Members Mike Fiasco
"Good Guy" country has sure moved far from the days of Merle, Cash, Waylon.... I think good guy country is a reaction to where rock has gone since the outlaw country days. I think mainstream country has fans who are sick of punk, brootalz, and cookie monster vocals. Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted November 11, 2010 Moderators Share Posted November 11, 2010 eh, can't get with ya on this one, buddy. sounds like the same over-produced, cliche {censored} that nashville's been farting out since that bastard garth brooks ruined country music in the early 90s. Cliche qnd overproduced are the things that came into my head, and takes itself too seriously

Gotta say Trent, all sycophancy aside, the best cuntryish album I've enjoyed for a long time is yours. It rocks, don't take itself too seriously, and progresses along at a good pace...I don't see why you couldn't get pretty big, in and out of the US

Members smorgdonkey
but Taylor Swift is 20 and a billionaire from songs she writes herself... so there is a market for it obviously... Taylor Swift writes terrible songs that people like. That's a fact (just use the line "when you think Tim MacGraw - I hope you think of me" as exhibit A). It is as much a fact as the fact that she can't sing in key. Mainstream country doesn't have much to offer but once in a while a little gem slips through. I submit that this Johnny Reid tune from a year + ago is much, much better than 'Real' from your guy:
Members Mike Fiasco
I think the lesson here is that people have different taste. No, I don't really like Taylor Swift, but millions (billions?) of other people do. Just because I don't like her music doesn't mean it's no good... it's just no good for me. The trap lots of people get in is that they think only the music THEY like is worthy. Your songs are good of someone likes them. Not everyone has to like them. Members webwarmiller
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6a4RznX-fc I'm no fan of country, but that is a GAZILLION times better than the song that started this thread. First off Reid sings in what I would say is his 'normal' singing voice as opposed to some ultra contrived country sounding voice like the first guy. That song sounded like a parody of country music just like metal music with cookie monster vocals sounds like a parody of metal.
Members humbuckerstrat
meh Miranda Lambert is awesome and her guitarist kick ass. +1, she could make me a fan of "nu-country." Dig the pink Epiphone Wildkat.
Members diceman1000
ahh,the subjectivity of music... like Mike said, not everyone has to like it:idk:... i personally think tha Cross Canadian Ragweed is the best band period but i know that several will disagree... maybe i should have worded the thread title different... man do i have a bad habit of wording things wrong:facepalm:
