Members metalheadUK
Hi guys. Haven't been on here a lot recently....Life seems to have taken a bit of a downward turn since coming back from St Ives, firstly with the horrible Fluey thing I had when we got back, and then my latest escapade. I shall elaborate. Some of you know that a couple of weeks back, I went to see "Electric Wizard"....BIG mistake. Heavy Metal IS bad for you! It's tricky to explain, but here goes. The Wizard were playing, but I needed a wee break, and so off I went. When I got to the loo, I was feeling decidely strange and not at all well,so I sat quietly for a while until I felt better. I didn't really understand why I felt out of sorts...I'd had a couple of Ciders, but hadn't indulged anything like as much as I have done. Anyway, I felt a little better, but rather than push through the crowd to get back to where I was, I sat on a Bar stool at the bar where I had a gret view of the band. Thats the last thing I remember! One minute I'm sitting listening to Metal, the next I'm coming round on the floor a LONG way from where I had been sitting, surrounded by Paramedics and security men. I was covered in blood, had a front tooth missing, had smashed my nose up (and various other bits of my body) and blood was pouring from my mouth and chin where I suspect my piercing had got caught and ripped a huge gash in my lip. Went by Ambulance to the nearest hospital where they stictched me up and cleaned me up...they wanted me to stay in overnight, but I was MILES from home and my wife Jan was panicking...I wanted to go home. Anyway, to cut a long story short, the stitches are out now, and I'm on the mend. Got a lot of dentistry work to look forward too, and feeling so smashed up and with EVERYTHING hurting, I've hardly picked up a guitar in the last 2 weeks..it just hurt to play. But Crosstown Lightnin' have landed a short notice gig for tomorrow, and I'm not a quitter, so tomorrow sees me first time out since the accident. I've run through the set, and my bass playing seems to be at it's regular level, but it is being thrown in at the deep end a bit, but hey...what the heck. Weirdest thing is not knowing how a missing tooth is gonna affect my singing...I feel like I'm talking with a bit of a lisp. So thats a quick update...People who I've promised to listen to jam tracks..I will get around to it...bear with me. Hoping to get the sticky jams done next week, got band rehearsals at the weekend. But it looks like i'm back!
Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted November 11, 2010 Moderators Share Posted November 11, 2010 But as Baldrick once said, "...how did you get one from one state of affairs to the other?" Glad you're on the mend tho
Members mosiddiqi
Whoa!..glad you're ok. There are a bunch of Electric Wizard fans in Guitar Jam (my usual hang out) but I haven't quite "got" them yet. Not sure I'll try any harder now. Members csm
What a trouper ... out of traction, back in action! Needless to say, we didn't accept the booking until I'd checked with Marc that he felt up for the downstroke. Be great to see him and play with again ... as ever is! Incidentally, London peeps ... the gig's at the Priory Tavern, Belsize Road, NW6 (just off Kilburn High Road) ... we hit at 21:45 for an hour-long set ... and it's freeeee, maaaaan! So if you fancy some Blues With Attitude (or just want to wish Marc a speedy recovery), come rock with us ...

Members metalheadUK
I have no idea why I passed out...it's like I just got switched off for an hour or so. I was so dazed and confused () when I came round that I thought I'd been badly beaten up, but no one knows for sure what happened. The Wizard were crushing though, but now I need to go see 'em again...I only caught 2 songs!

I bet I know when in the set it happened: during the new track 'Turn Off Your Mind'. That title's not a request, you know, it's a command. Mojo for a speedy recovery. Members GAS Man
Well that's a concerning story. I'd sure want to know why I blacked out. I hit the floor at a concert once myself (some 34 yrs ago or so) as I was passing out, my lights started going out at the exact same time the house lights were dimming for the show to start; and I was in the middle of the jammed floor at a coliseum. But I never went completely out, but my vision did. I fell as I was trying to get out of the mass of people and when I finally looked up, I was relieved to see I'd made it to the edge of the crowd. I was then able to get back up, walk over to the wall and slump down to the floor. After a while, I made myself up to a seat, watching the rest from above, separated from my friends and the reason I started to black out. But I knew why. Even though that's not supposed to happen. My condolences, you're a good contributor to these boards so good to have you back.

Members caveman
Somebody drop something in your cider? Years ago some asshole bought my band a round of drinks and laced them with LSD. I hope that's all it was and not a deeper health issue. On with the show!

Members nuke_diver
I was about to PM csm to see if he knew where you had disappeared to. I was wondering if something might have happened to you...and something did. Holy ship man make sure you get a clean bill of health. Unless you were prone to fainting spells in the past could be an early sign of some changes and better to catch things early. Jan was right to be freaking out You need to get better so you can continue to bring the here Besides I need some tips on some Plague songs

Members jrockbridge
Marc, I'm glad to hear that you're on the mend. Hopefully, from here on out, you'll be on the fast track to full recovery! Regarding the "missing hour" of time, I'll bet I know what happened. You were sitting at the bar enjoying "Electric Wizard" when, all of the sudden, a small mosh pit began to develop in front of the band. Being the traditional punk that you are, it wasn't long before you joined the mosh pit action. After about 45 minutes of healthy mosh action, 4 young blokes grabbed hold of you and gave you a hearty toss across the club. Unfortunately, you experienced a bit of bad luck and landed on a chair, face first. You were knocked unconscious, the paramedics arrived to assist and the rest is history! Frets99
I would have ended the story, and lucky for them there was five of 'em!!! Had there only been 4, they'd have all been collecting disability checks for months!!!! Seriously! Glad you're okay and gigging. The place ain't the same without you around!
