Incredible line up! Please let us know how it was.

I'd love to see that show - especially Ernie Isley, one of my all-time favorites. Also Eric Johnson. I've seen him twice and each time he covered a couple Hendrix songs in his set.

Just a note of caution to take earplugs with you. I know people who saw the Experience Hendrix show in SF on the last tour and said it was so loud that it was practically unbearable at times.

Sounds nice, but it still isn't experiencing Hendrix... close but no ceegar.... like Christian church without jesus....

It would be EXACTLY like church. Christ IS there, even if he's not on the lineup. :thu:

I wouldn't mind checking out the show, but I'd probably have to take a potty break while Vai was on stage. While I respect him immensely as a player, based on the G3 stuff, I don't know that I'd want to hear him play more than one solo during the night.

Saw the show last night. It went for nearly 3 hours!

I did meet Billy Cox and bought one of his cd's before the show which he autographed for me. Very nice dude!

My thoughts on the show - mixing especially during the first hour was horrible! I could hardly hear the drums when Ernie Isley was playing. Eric Johnson's performance was stellar, but very expected as I have seen him several times. I had also seen Jonny Lang, Indigenous, & Kenny Wayne Shepherd previously with their own bands. For this show, I have to say the biggest stand outs were Jonny Lang, Susan Tedeschi, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Their sets were just killer. That was my first time to see Susan live - great set of pipes (and legs!) and she can play the {censored} out of her guitar! Vai is an incredible talent, but his style has just never really done it for me. He did one tune in his set that was killer, the rest of his set was pretty much noisy whammy crap!

His music isn't everybody's cup of tea, but when I saw him like 3 years ago

he played HIS classics. Still I would've loved to hear him doing Hendrix songs. I wonder why Yngwie wasn't there? He loves Hendrix and has played with some of the guitarists at that show.

I saw that show earlier this year.

From what I remember......

Kenny Wayne Shepherd was incredible.

Ernie Isley used too much flange/chorus. Pro player......but he gave me a headache.

I expected more from Eric Johnson.

Jonny Lange was trying too hard to tear up his vocal cords.

Joe Satriani was was jaw dropping , as well as, Vernon Reid and Living Color. They jammed at the end of the show.

Sounds like a great show.

Cool you met Billy Cox.

it was awesome! I took my stepdaughter who is not into this kind of music. However, she has a class requirement to attend/review at least one concert (any genre) per quarter. She just rolled her eyes at how excited I was just to have met Billy Cox. I tried to explain to her that meeting someone who had played/recorded with Jimi Hendrix was just HUGE in my book. My stepdaughter (14) fell asleep twice during the concert...

Whitford was easily the weakest player there the night they played Albany. It's funny too, cause I've always preferred him to Joe Perry. We didn't get Tedeschi, which is too bad. Kenny Wayne and Steve Vai killed it though. EJ was good too but between his soft voice and the inept soundmans fumbling, he just didnt have the same vibe as those 2. I kind of feel like if you took DNA from EJ and Johnny Lang, you'd get the perfect mix for a guitar playing frontman. Or maybe Joe Bonnamassa, which isn't bad either.
