Members MyEmergency
I have a guitar of mine both on here and on Craigslist at what I thought was a very fair price, I buy/sell/trade guitars ALOT and am boggled that this hasn't sold yet. It is a Gibson SG Special in Faded Cherry in great condition, just setup as well (not that it effects the price), as well as including one of the $200 Gibson Hardshell cases since I couldn't stand to carry an SG in those gig bags they come with for fear of snapping the headstock. I have it priced @ $550 is this fair? I thought it was a great price

Members dcooper830
It seems like it's a terrible time to try to sell musical equipment. You practically have to give stuff away in this buyer's market.

Members mnewb1
sounds fair, but the market is totally different today I took a Mesa rig that I paid about 1350.00 for three years ago to put on consignment at a place I know with excellent reputation ( meaning I completely trust their opinion)...price they quoted to sell it for...700.

Members Bob411
Generally you get the same amount of money for a guitar with, or without a case, so if you can still use the case for something, keep it, and lower the price. As far as the guitar, MF's everyday price is $700. Calling Music 123 any day of the week will get you 15%, sometimes 20% off of that. Math for 20% is easy. $560 for a brand new guitar. Doesn't matter if your guitar is "like new", mint. Buyer is still dealing with a company they know. Your best bet is Ebay. People on Ebay are nuts. It wouldn't surprise me if someone bid $600 for the guitar only, and paid you to ship it.

Members d_dave_c
It's a horrible time to sell - A guitar is something that you buy for yourself, and people are starting to think about the holidays and spending their money on others right now. Add to that the down economy, and it's a really bad time to try and sell. Should pickup a little after the new year. People will get some cash for the holidays or return presents they didn't like and buy what they want.

I took a quick glance at eBay completed auctions and it looks like most that actually sold went for $500 or less. I personally wouldn't even pay $500 for something I could get new for $595 or less, but I'm sure somebody will sooner or later.
Members Timmott
The faded SG's were only $550 when they were first released a couple of years ago.
Members cratz2
I think the case is holding you back. Most folks looking at a ~$400 (used) guitar aren't ready to ante up for a $200 (new) case. Your price seems pretty in line though... I got my SG in Faded Brown for $375 from Guitar Center, but they had four of them (three in Cherry and and one in Brown) when I got it. Bump that price up to $425 if they only had one in stock... which seems about where yours is priced, accounting for the case. It's a suck ass time to try to sell gear though. Members harold heckuba
I have seen at least two on ebay in the last few months with a BIN of $400 plus shipping. This sort of surprised me as I thought these were very popular.
Members harold heckuba
BTW, I think the case advise you are getting is correct. I do know on ebay a guitar with a case for the most part brings no more than the same guitar without. You could try selling the guitar for $450 and try to sell the case for say, $85, and you will be at about where you need to be.
Members jhorne
Also keep in mind that eBay/PayPal would get their cut, which at $550 would be around $65, so if you could get $485 for it locally, you'd could save the eBay hassles and come out the same. Plenty of guys in the same spot you were in, they got SG specials or fadeds with a gig bag and are looking for reasonably priced case.

Members Woody_in_MN
I agree with what some others have said, it is a bad time to sell. I buy and sell quite a bit - as much of a hobby to me as playing. Also, SG's in general do not have good resale value. I don't know why. Good idea about selling the Guitar and case seperately. Members aliensporebomb
Terrible time to sell - the store I bought my most recent guitar in I managed to get a great deal because they admitted inventory wasn't moving. Up until last week it was 60 degrees in November in Minnesota and everyone was playing outside and not thinking of staying inside and buying or playing gear. I managed to make one of the better deals I ever did because I sprung.
Members Lonnie99
I've owned 3 Faded SGs and never paid more than $300 for any of them. Hell I paid $279 at GC for a 79 "The SG" and $400 for a regular SG Special. $200 for a guitar case? Insane. Keep the case and drop the price.
