Members tim_7string
Ain't nobody like ol' Junior! Ain't nothin' like seeing this stuff LIVE and in your face, too! I was lucky enough to have the privilege of seeing Junior Brown and his band perform a few years ago. He was a mere six feet away from me. I could see every sweat bead on his face and hear the clanking sound whenever he switched between the "Tele" guitar neck and the "Steel Guitar" neck. Fun stuff. A couple of times he almost missed the switch, but he recovered. I love live music. All I can say about him is "Wow!" And I'm not even a country music fan! Members UstadKhanAli
I do like some country stuff as well as bluegrass, but for whatever reason, I watched that and another YouTube video and it didn't grab me. The guy is an amazing amazing player, no doubt, but I guess his playing's not quite my thing.
Members the stranger
I was flipping through the radio on the way to the store this evening and heard the Jimmy Martin version of Freeborn Man, which I hadn't ever heard. I was enjoying it and really liked the lyrics (of course ), so when I got back I looked it up. And lucky for me it just so happened that Jr. Brown's take was in the related vids and I knew before I even played it, it was gonna be a burner. I wasn't disappointed. Members the stranger
Country guys with chops? How about the original Mr. Sell Your Guitar, the one and only immortal Jerry Reed: [video=youtube;qOGiW-y-Vhs]
CMS Author MikeRivers Posted February 7, 2011 CMS Author Share Posted February 7, 2011 Gosh, you guys are just discovering Junior Brown? I thought this was a guitar-heavy crowd. Somebody should bring him to the NAMM show and have a play-off with Johnny Highland.
Moderators Lee Knight Posted February 7, 2011 Moderators Share Posted February 7, 2011 I love Junior Brown. If Hee Haw were still around today, he'd be a cast member/host. I love Buck and Roy and all that smaltzy, over the top, hokey yet cool chops. FUN!

First time was back in 1996, and the second time was about five years ago. Then the very next night I saw Unknown Hinson and Reverend Horton Heat. I was in psychobilly heaven. Members Dingoist
Yeah, I saw him a couple of times. First time was back in 1996, and the second time was about five years ago. Then the very next night I saw Unknown Hinson and Reverend Horton Heat. I was in psychobilly heaven. Saw the Rev in a stop-over show on the way to Toronto, back in '98 or '99 in London, Ontario (I think it was Dec '98 actually). Opening act sucked (some lame local punk thingy that liked to fart and curse). Rev. H. Heat's live show was amazing.
