Michael Jackson's This Is It...

yeah I went to see it in the theater. It really is a great movie. The guy is such a pro.

One of the most interesting parts from a guitar perspective was when he was rehearsing the part where Orianthi gets her solo. She kind of looks at him like "ok what would you like me to do", and he says to her "This is your time to shine" or something like that. In other words go nuts, and impress everyone. So she kind of blows through a typical shred solo but you could tell it was a little off, and Jackson says ".....we'll work on it..." LOL.

That example and just his over seeing of all the other stuff just showed how totally in touch he is with every single aspect of the production. So much so he understands the guitar itself well enough to know when a performance is full on from the heart. I guess when you've played with so many of the very best, (and I think he played guitar himself as well) you can recognize instantly what's wrong. And he does this with the music and dance and production. Crazy.

MJ was still huge when I was really young, then the last couple of decades weren't to nice to him, I wasn't a MJ supporter during those times and he started going crazy, but I will say even in MJ's poor condition, the man still had it, the drive. Hell, after watching This is It, I would have very likely purchased a ticket to see that show if he were still alive.

I agree with most of what has been said here. I think Orianthi just lacked confidence. I've seen her on tv and the girl can play. Being thrown into such a big time situation with MJ might have been unnerving for her.

The only thing with the movie is that knowing the huge amount of drugs that MJ was taking I was amazed at how totally lucid the guy seemed. While watching the movie I kept finding myself looking for tell-tale signs of junky-ism, accept for his emaciated condition none were apparent.

yeah it was just rehearsal and I'm sure she would have had it all together by the time the shows started.

I was a bit surprised by how good he looked as well. Pretty obvious his death was a bit dodgy.
