Members holden_caufield9
I have a McCarty with a solid rosewood neck. I dont really love the stock pickups and would like to change them. My favorite pickups are the Gibson 57 Classics, but i'm not paying $180 each to get the 4 conductor model so I can keep my coil tap. (yes I use the tap a lot) Does anyone have any suggestions on a good 4 conductor pickup that will get me in the 57 classic tone range? I only want nickel covers, no open coil nonsense. Members GreatDane
send me the de-soldered stock McCarty pickups and $50 and I'll send you a pair of Gibson Burstbucker 1/2 combos (like they put in the newer Custom shop instruments). PM me if you want to take this route.

Sure, if you want to stay with 4 conductor then your answer is PAF
Members GreatDane
duh... i read this too fast and missed the part about the four-conductor requirement. the offer still stands, but no worries if you aren't interested.

Too bad because I was starting to think it was going to be a nice deal for both of us. Probably best that I keep the originals though in case I need to sell the guitar someday. Members scott944
PRS sells their pickups direct, but they're pricey. Join PRSforums and take a look at the "for sale" forum. Lots of options used - maybe even a set of 57/08's, which are supposed to be the shizzle.

I find it hard to believe that buying direct from PRS is pricey. I mean their prices are so low as is. You're just trolling. Thanks for the tip man. Members vintage clubber
there's some ebay venders that sell the PRS pickups new. pricing is going to be in the same ballpark (or higher)as getting custom wounds from BG though. Members GreatDane
you can find PRS McCarty pickups all day long on eBay for around $99 a pair (usually less, IMO).
