A story about a stolen strat

You call the police and report it. You'll need documented proof of the serial number. In the US, a pawn shop selling stolen merchandise gets in BIG trouble. If you buy it back for a bargain price, then the guitar matching the serial number of the stolen guitar belongs to you, which makes you the thief (in the eyes of the law, at least..) So no, don't touch that thing without the police.

My first thought (before your buddy recovered) was to inform the police and the insurance company (they weren't greedy bastards when they paid out for your loss, eh?). Insurance companies can be very aggressive compared to the police when it comes to recovery/prosecution.

Should I tell about how my Tele came back here, or would that be a hijack?
