My dream guitar - does it even exist?

Well, it's time to upgrade the guitar rig, as my band is going to be recording soon and my little el cheapo squire affinity isn't going to cut it.

I've been doing a ton of research, and I think this is what I want:

Strat-like (or similar) body and scale.

Mahogany body and neck.

Rosewood fingerboard

3x3 (or maybe 4x2) headstock.

Hardtail bridge

P90s at the bridge and neck (humbuckers will work too - I can drop in some Gibson P94s)

2 volume, 2 tone. 3 way switch.

Anybody got any guitars in mind? I've been thinking about getting Warmoth parts and building one... but I don't really feel like spending 1 grand on this guitar. ;)

Thanks guys

i think i pretty content with my gear at this point.. mho its just stuff my guitar is just a guitar.. if it plays well enough.. thats good enough.. i guess i dont have a dream guitar.. kinda sad really..

The OP isn't asking us to name our dream guitars; he's asking if there is a guitar that meets the specs he lists in his post.

Can't think of anything that fits all that.

With all the options a Carvin would be around a grand, too.

If you don't mind more of a singlecut, a PRS SE Tremonti might be a good start. You can find a used one for $300-350, and replace the pickups.

Strat-like (or similar) body and scale - nope - singlecut, 25" scale

Mahogany body and neck - yup

Rosewood fingerboard - affirmative

3x3 (or maybe 4x2) headstock - sure thing

Hardtail bridge - mmm-hmmm

P90s at the bridge and neck (humbuckers will work too - I can drop in some Gibson P94s) - drop in those p-94's

2 volume, 2 tone. 3 way switch - yes, yes, and yes

Maybe get one of these and mod the hell out of it?

Jackson Dinky Christina Olde Wolbers sig, ebony board but mahogany neck and body. Blank slate for routing and knobs, toggles, etc.

Man i want to F the S out of that now :mad: lol

As for the OP, i would say get a Carvin Bolt if you wanted it to be like a strat. If SuperStrat is your thing, go for a DC127.

+1 on the PRS! I have one of these and it's not a bad guitar at all. Nice neck, resonant body, and the pickups really aren't THAT bad.

This thing is a prime candidate for P-90 pups, IMO. I'm thinking Phat Cat neck and JB-4 bridge for mine . . .. That P-94 is appealing tho, and cheaper than the SD.

The PRS Tremonti has been mentioned, but you could also get the PRS SE Soapbar II and rewire it with concentric pots so you could have separate volume and tone controls for each pickup. It would be a pretty cheap way to go. Granted the scale is 25" rather than 25.5", but if that's not a deal breaker...

How about a Wilshire? It's so ugly it's cool, but I think it fits all criteria except for the scale length and the tuning pegs. There is one with P90s and a 3x3 headstock, but the price is just insulting.

haha thanks... I think...

Its a pretty killer guitar, been thinking about getting a neck pup installed...

Also it has the fattest neck ive ever felt on a shredder guitar (like Gibson 50s profile fat) which makes it really unique :thu:
