RP 1000 help:

I originally posted this in the effects forum, but I didn't get any responses.

I recently bought one and I"m fairly satisfied, but there's one thing bugging me, and I haven't figured out a way to fix it.

Depending on what amp I'm using, I may want to use the amps' distortion as opposed to the RP 1000 modeling. I have a few saved patches where I like the effects in combination for certain settings. I can turn the amp/cab modeling feature off, and all is good up until I switch to another patch. Then, the amp/cab comes back automatically when changing.

I would like to be able to do this at will

Use my amps preamp and eq.

Set up one patch for reverb and delay for lead...

Set another for chorus etc. for clean

Be able to keep amp/cab sims off while changing patches.

Well I don't have experience with the RP1000 specifically, but you'll be wanting to look for a global setting for the amp sims that you can toggle on/off independent of the patches. If it doesn't have that, you may be looking a having to clone the patches, one set with the amp sims enabled, and another set without.

Optionally - and I only have this idea because I can do this on my Boss GT10 - is there another switch that can be assigned on a patch to do something else? On the GT10, there's two separate footswitches that aren't for patch selects, those can be assigned to toggle anything, so I can flip a preamp model on/off within a patch..

You need to use the four cable method to be able to take your amp's preamp in and out of the equation with the amp loop switch. You are going to have to manually program your patches to bypass the amp/cab sims. There's no way to universally dismantle them across the board.

Using the RP1000 in pedalboard mode running four cables will enable you to have five patches in which you can turn effects on and off at will while using your amp's preamp (or not) with the amp loop switch. You can search YouTube for vids, and it's all in the manual.
