Members mhuxtable
So I saw a used American Standard Strat (I think...could be a Deluxe) at my local GC. Has a beautiful Sienna sunburst color, perloid pickguard, nice playing neck. But the bridge is way lifted off the body. The springs on the trem are obviously WAY too loose. With that said, should I hit this guitar? It's $750. Is the bridge pulling up like that for god knows how long doing long term damage to the neck or with a little adjustment will everything be fine?? Members Lonnie99
Add springs and/or tighten the claw screws. The trem will be fine.
Members joshmac
I think more details about the guitar are needed before we can say whether or not its worth it. If you really like the guitar though, a lifting bridge is an insanely easy fix. If you decide to buy it and need help, let me know.
Members mhuxtable
I'm more worried about the tension warping the neck. Could it do that?? What more info do you need I'll try to tell you.
Members Bubbluz
the trem won't warp the neck
Members kayd_mon
If you like the neck and the sound, get it. As the others have said, the lifted bridge will not have caused any damage.
Members RipVanWinkle
Sienna burst is my favorite strat color at the moment. I'd get it. Is it HSS? I've seen 2 at the Arlington GC that were
Members mhuxtable
no just the standard SSS. So the next question is...is $750 a good price used or a "meh" price used? I can't remember if it's a Standard or a Deluxe I'll have to check. I'm not really a strat guy but this seems like a nice one to have.
Members DaleH
If it's a deluxe it sounds like not a bad deal.
Members kayd_mon
If it's a Deluxe, it's a good price, but not insane. I'd go for it if the guitar felt/sounded right to me, and I had $750 to spend. If it's a Standard, it's not a rip-off, but it's not really a deal, either. I'd probably pass unless I was unnaturally drawn to the guitar.
Members CandyHarlot
if the springs are the only problem with it, then i'd buy it. you should be able to get it set up pretty cheaply, and you'd still save alot of money on buying a new one
