Members Surrealistic
Hope you'll forgive me posting this here. My recently acquired Yamaha SG1000 took me in a new direction, back to the classic rock sound I grew up with. This new song is a rethink a song I'd already written, now using a couple of different Yammy sounds (coil split for the main rhythm and no coil split for the rest). Please forgive the unfinished nature of this and the rough playing and mix* but I just really like these sounds and wanted to share http://www.surrealisticpenguin.ryepress.com/music/On_The_Pier_2.mp3 Hope you like. * put this together in about 30 mins start to finish so it's really just a sketch
Members fretmonster
Dude, if you put that together in thirty minutes then you really have mad skillz when it comes to recording. That song is pretty good as is and has beaucoup potential if you flesh it out a little. Unfortunately (for this thread) this forum is all about guitars and not music, otherwise you'd have more feedback. PS Cool tonez out of the Yammy. Members Jkater
well done. So you play all instruments in there? Post a pic of that SG1000!
Members DavidMgT
You definitely have that great classic rock sound in every way - the vocals are right there as well. Sounds like a fusion of classic Clapton-era Cream with just a touch of Dylan. Nice work man:thu:
Members scuzzo
listening to it right now.. very nice tone on the SG... nice slack playing.. i like a cat who can play with in the beat and not rely on the count.. really good feel.. always dig hearing your playing.. sounds like your getting were your need to... just good solid honest stuff... i could hear crazy horse doing this.. dont let the lack of response get you down... the cats who post up will be giving you feed back most often and then its just lurkers and... great harp too.. really solid stuff.. Members Surrealistic
Thanks guys. I really don't have "mad skillz" I'm sure. Sometimes it takes forever but I just got lucky in terms of the basics being close to right with this one. I really do love the sounds this Yammy can make - so glad I bought it. Members Surrealistic
Wow - lot more posts as I was replying. Thanks guys. I played the guitar, piano (badly but fixed with Cubase) and harmonica (badly but left alone). The drums are samples and the bass is midi (SampleTank). Here's the gratuitous guitar porn:
Members kit_strong
Both the song and the guitar are sweet. Good Job:thu:

That seems to come from using the coil splitting feature. I like the sound the Yammy makes in full humbucking mode too but for this one, this sound just seemed right to me. Thanks for listening
