Members Engl Kramer
Just got an S470 yesterday. Will post a NGD thread when I take some pictures. I did a basic setup last night and got it surprisingly good considering its tuned to C standard. My question is- are there any height adjusters for the individual saddles? Sorry if I'm being thick here but I couldn't see any which I thought was weird since these trems are blatently for shred guitars/ists so it would follow that you would be able to set the action super low. If its not possible its gonna bum me out- I like to set the string heights to follow the shape of the fretboard.
Members Engl Kramer
Not to worry I found the answer here- http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/manual/english/7.pdf Sucks man. I hope I can get used to it. Seems like a good trem but WTF.
Members satannica
The saddles on the tremolo do follow the radius naturally. If you want to adjust the height, the posts either side of the tremolo are where you want to be adjusting.
Members Engl Kramer
Thanks man. It was pretty late last night when I finished adjusting everything and I didn't have too much time to try it. Will hit it hard tonight. How do you rate the ZR? Did you remove the ZPS?Not sure about it (ZPS) at the moment- its clunky (literally), but its amazingly stable and I like the idea that it will hold tune if a string breaks. Members jds22
I had an S470. I just recently sold it to pay for my S420. I love the ZR. If you want the bridge to match the fretboard radius you'll need to shim the individual saddles. A tech on the Ibby board told me to use brass shims and to order them from Ibanez Rules. Use 2 shims on sadles 3 & 4, 1 shim on saddles 2 & 5 and that should get you pretty close. I never did it as I don't find the radius mismatch to be an issue. I have my action as low as I would ever want it and there is no buzz so I never messed with shimming the saddles. Congrats on the new Ibby. Thanks and cheers for the (slightly depressing info) I think why it bothered me is that I already have a RG321 with a wizard II neck and made the mistake of thinking this would be the same. It is different in every way. Thing is I paid exactly half the price for the RG and the action and the neck in general is better IMO.

My Korean made 470's Wiz II is totally different than my Indo made 420's Wiz II. The 420's neck is very close in shape and thickness to the Wiz Prestige neck. They feel almost exactly the same. My 470's Wiz II was beefier and had kind of an oval shape to the back of the neck if that makes sense.

Its still cool. I think I'll have to play it for a day or two and see how I get on. Also the RG neck is much smoother finish wise. Not sure if its a different coating- I suspect that the previous owner of the RG sanded it.
