Another idea: Mesa Mark IIcs with a V shaped EQ and EMG active pickups. Metallica relied on that formula for years and it sounds huge and ballsy drop-tuned. The rectifier is the "bellwether" amp for this purpose but the Mark series will do it do with proper equalization and pickups.

I've always been of the opinion that a hunk of mahogany with a p90 bolted to it is the most evil/pissed off guitar sound you can get. I'd say an SG is a close 2nd. Preferrably through a cranked Marshall. JTMs are nice...{censored} the MGs and AVTs and all the solid state/kinda solid state/we swear it sounds like tube amps they have. Cheap crap.

evil does not = pissed off. 2 entirely different sounds.

pissed off = kicked out of moms house at 16, living on the street, hating everything and everyone around because they dont agree with your view of the world which is mostly based on listening to music made by people who felt the same way as you 30 years earlier.

evil = living in moms basement at 37, no sense of self purpose, no female contact.

if you want to sound like you going to rip someones face off get a BC Rich and put the pickup switch out of phase and turn the Varisound down a bit and you can sound like this (with a lot of practice). Rick used his Rich here and played bass too on the song written by Cheap Trick's Rick Neilson for him.
