Members ElectricEye
...and I take back what I said earlier this year about him needing to hang it up (after seeing a bad performance video here a while back). It was a GREAT show. In all honesty, the only reason I went was to see Halford. But, despite his off-key singing, Ozzy still knows how to put on probably one of the most entertaining shows in metal. It was actually FUN to experience! I was giddy afterwards. I haven't seen him live for a variety of reasons since 86 so this was a treat. He also has a hilarious new toy, btw, which he breaks out near the end of Mr. Crowley (see below). Now, on to Gus G. I don't know what to make of the kid. True to his word, he stayed very much to the original note of the old songs. They played plenty of Black Sabbath, most of Blizzard and a spattering of songs from the other albums, including Killer of Giants, which was awesome to hear live again. Anyway, his sound is tremendous. His solo was way too long and, frankly, didn't do much for me at all. As of now, he's playing other people's music, so other than learning them well, I don't know if I can really say he's the next up and coming guitar god-like figure that I would say Zakk and Jake E Lee attained. And at the pace Ozzy puts out albums, I wouldn't be surprised if this latest one is his last. Which means he isn't going to show us much. [video=youtube;sPApMLwXxEg] Oh, and Halford {censored}ing ruled btw. It really disappoints me that he's only opening shows for Ozzy and not really doing any headline gigs before he goes back to Priest next year. 45 minutes is not enough, especially when he does 3 or 4 Priest tunes and nothing off Crucible.... Grr. [video=youtube;iPFvQfb2_b8]

Members craigny
I would have just watched Ozzy and left during Halford. That is all. Then you would have missed Ozzy as Halford opened for Ozzy. Even if it was the other way around youd have missed a great performance....not sure if you really know who Rob Halford is, but ive seen him with Priest, Halford, Two , and Fight, and he kicks all kinds of ass everytime he performs regardless of what band hes performing with! Respect the METAL GOD!! Serouisly though if you are a fan of metal there is something in the Rob halford catalogue that everyone can enjoy. I can't figure how any metal fan COULDN'T like his solo stuff and don't even give the music a chance. It's even more weird to me given he's 100x the singer Ozzy ever was but draws smaller crowds. But for some weird reason, people think that he's not as good w/o Priest when his best material is actually his solo stuff - at least over the last 20 years. I actually met Halford and the rest of Fight at a signing when "War Of Words" came out, Halford and the guys were way cool!! saw them open for Anthrax at Roseland and they blew them off the stage..As for the Ozzy comparison...as much as I love the Ozzman i'd have to agree..i saw Priest play at Ozzfest a few years back....think it was '04 mabye?? and the original Sabbath played there too and Halford and Priest sounded as good then as they did on Priest Live! Members Fireproof777
Halford....amazing. I think I'm digging his solo stuff better than Priest (new Priest that is). Ozzy....whenever I've seen him, he's always put on a good show (although he seemed to blab all over the guitar solos when I saw him). Gus G...good player, but until he actually does something original with Ozzy, he's just a fill in as far as I'm concerned (albeit a good one) and nowhere near Jake and Zakk.
