Members Cobalt Blue
I hadn't seen this before: The VeryThins I had seen were all of the two humbucker variety. (And I'm not fond of humbuckers.) But this three Hofner bar pickup reissue I'm interested in. Thanks to you Wedgehed, I have a Hofner CT Club on its way--a Christmas gift to myself. Now, I'm sure(!) that if you were to buy one of these, it would be a very short time until it also had a Bigsby on it. But what do you think about this guitar? And I am asking everyone here, as well. Opinions? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230565168332
Members Elias Graves
I know nothing about the pickups. I played a bunch of Verythins when I was looking and they are really well made guitars with excellent playability. The humbucker version I played had pickups that were well above average. The minis in the club are good, too, so I doubt those are any worse. The scale was the only thing that kept me from buying that guitar and that's just preference. Members GAS Man
Thanks to you Wedgehed, I have a Hofner CT Club on its way--a Christmas gift to myself. You'll thank me for this (or at least you should cuz I just spent a good chunk of time finding this in my recent purchase records) but I also bought the Hofner CT Club after seeing docjeffery's and wedgehed's recommendations. But finding a case or gigbag for it was quite the trial. I won't fit in a LP case, it won't fit in a Epi WildKat case, most gigbags are too snug, but these are a helluva nice gigbag on a great price that is awesome for the quality and the fit is perfect. http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gator-Viper-Electric-Guitar-Gig-Bag?sku=581639

I probably should act on the info immediately, but the guitar is scheduled to arrive Thursday, and (1) I bought one from MF's used section and (2) since this is peak volume time at UPS, there is a greater chance that there could be a shipping mishap. If all goes well, though, and the guitar arrives in great condition, I won't have to suffer so as to find a bag that fits. And I will have you to thank--a second time--for that. Members GAS Man
Hey, no problem. I was partly being "tongue in cheek", but it really was quite the project for me trying to figure out what to put that guitar into, it's really an unusual shape/dimension. I tried a lot of google searches trying to find the answer and found a lot of misinformation on-line (like folks suggesting LP cases even though if you try it the lid won't close) I also shared the info with wedgehed (got a thank you - although he wasn't worried about a bag or case for his); and shared it with docjeffery in a PM and got no response but I bought my bags back on 10/29 so there's a good chance you've got some time left on your side. I jumped on two of those bags. The red (which is the only one left) I paired up with the Hofner and the grey/black I got for my Epi G-400 with Maestro Trem. That trem always sticks out stiff and proud like morning wood, so it needs a wider bag as well. But point being, although the grey is gone, they've survived so far this long so I think time is on your side. And I really think that Hofner is an excellent buy for the money. As both doc and jeff said, it's really got some very nice sounding mini humbuckers in it. Very nice guitar for the money. Hope you'll like yours.
