Members enroper
I can't tell you how much I am in tonal heaven right now. I have wanted a 5e3 clone ( and a place to live where I could actually crank one up ) for over 3 years now. Well I've been in a cool place for a year now, and it was finally time to get a 5e3. Found one up at Doylestown Guitars in Doylestown, PA. Rob Martyn is the man. I got there and hooked one of their LP Studios into it, I literally fell in love upon the first chord. Their in-house tech opened it up and looked it over, said it is hot rodded a little ( i forget the specs ). But is has sozo caps and a weber speaker, groovetube 6v6's in it. Only complaint is it is a little buzzy, Rob said it might be the low end weber speaker. Also, one of the 6v6 is rattling. But those will be replaced hopefully with NOS some or anothers. This amp is sexy though. Laquered tweed cabinet. I love it. If I ever had to choose between selling my Vox ac15 or this generic clone, the vox would be gone in a second. Poor thing is gonna start collecting dust now that this is here. Can you tell I'm excited. Anyway, on to the clip! Recorded with a shure sm-7 a little off access pointed towards the edge of the cone. into a golden age pre 73 neve clone. you're hearing mostly the amp, with a tiny little bit saturation from the preamp. eq'ed slightly to cut some of the mids and boost the highs just slightly... please don't hate on my playing skill. i like to think what I lack in technical skill i make up for with soul. just me, a LP, and my fingers. No need to hate, it's a good demo; it sounds like you were really feeling it. HNAD!
