Members stratocaster202
Hello, I saw your advertising on Craig's list and extremely keen in buying and would like to pay in cash.I'm at work at present, so I cannot contact you before I get home. However, I use a website that can save details so you can leave your mobile phone number there.Firstly i need to tell that I have met number of abnormal people from Craigslist . org and been sexually harrassed and worry for my wellbeing. So I only ask If you may verify that your safe to meet on this site http://w743.com/vMSiNCxLmH , I would come to feel a lot more at ease knowing that your not some pychopath. My user is sarahlady88, look me up and message when you available. I be on most of the day.I'm a serious buyer and have to have this. I will certainly phone you soon after I get home to arrange a meeting.Sarah. I'm guessing yes but it's not one I've seen before, so I figured I'd ask if anyone on here has got an email like this.
Members kayd_mon
Definitely a scam. The URL looks like the same kind that you find in those spam emails advertising porn, viagra, or pretending to be facebook friend requests. Don't do it! There's no reason anyone should have to save their information on a website to make a simple local transaction.
Members stratocaster202
Thanks man. I was really hoping it wasn't a scam, I've been trying to find a buyer for a while.
Members mnhhngbfs
it's a scam, when you click the link the person who set it up gets a tiny amount of money for referring you to a site through a bunch of other urls. they get more money if some one were to actually go through with the offer/background check/credit score rating/etc.etc. that the url eventually leads to. it's kind of like spamming a website's ads so they get paid more for them. Members sk8centilli
First clue: it reads like someone used an [insert language here] to English dictionary.
Members ashasha
No mention of the item, no inquiry about details of the item, a very vague and actually stupid excuse (sexual harrassment?)....and a frickin weird link? Why woudn't she just ask for your phone number directly? And who would call themselves sarahlady88? I mean REALLY? That's ridiculously stupid. Members kayd_mon
Thanks man. I was really hoping it wasn't a scam, I've been trying to find a buyer for a while. No problem. I can identify with trying to sell stuff on craigslist with little luck. I know I can get buyers on eBay a little easier, but I'd rather not have to pay listing/final value fees. Members StratGuy22
Tell them to meet you at a shopping mall, with cash, or {censored} off.
Members northpark
It's a scam obviously, that URL is a url shortening service though which probably isn't affiliated with the scammers Did they send this email from a free service like hotmail/gmail? Most of these services insert custom headers like x-sender: that'll still show you their IP address even if the mail was sent through webmail. Members lp_junkie
My rule of thumb, if it's on CL it's a scam.
Members sleewell
My rule of thumb, if it's on CL it's a scam. thats a mighty dumb rule. lots of scams on CL for sure, but its pretty easy to spot them and more importantly there are many great deals to be had in this market. plus not having UPS manhandle and destroy your package and being able to test it out first are huge advantages in my book. Members lp_junkie
True not all the ads are scams...... I've tried to use Craigslist to sell several things and it's a sea of low-ballers and idiots who wouldn't know what the value of any item actually is. CL pisses me off I have better luck buying and selling among trusted friends and specialized vintage shops.
